Was F1 C 99-02 an improvement over F1 2002?  Better graphics?  Physics?
Thanks.

Biggest jump was in improvements for Mods.  Items like starter motors, and
lights.  The physics were improved with imput from mod teams that had worked
on F1 2k2 mods and the graphics slightly improved(depending on time of day, the
sky changes color from day to grey to black).    Multiplay was also addressed,
and was improved, but still not quite up to Papyrus' multiplayer level.
FIA prohibits F1 sims from having dedicated servers.   There has been a project
going on since this last Fall to transfer the dedicated server code from Nascar
Thunder,  but I have not seen any real progress on that front.
They also fixed some things that were broken with 2k2, like the recon laps before
the start.  And the tracks were re-worked slightly.
There are about 20 mods in production for F1c.  A few already released and soon
many more...but F1c is still pretty much a waiting game for that one big mod that
stuns everyone like GTR 2002 did for F1 2k2.
Some of the restrictions from 2k2 are gone, the limit of only 12 teams, F1c can
support something like 36 teams with3 cars each.  This is a big help to the
LeMans modders.  And items like the 2 hour race limit supposedly have also
been addressed so a long endurance race 'should' be possible.  Although you
won't be able to share a car between several drivers like you can with the
 Papyrus mods.

In addition to what Dave said F1 2002 was said to have unrealistically high
levels of downforce.  That has been corrected in F1 Challenge.  So even if
you don't want the mods F1C is still a better game than F1 2002.  Other
minor things are there too, like the fact that F1 2002 has some modernized
track layouts that people didn't like, such as Hockenheim, but F1C's
multiple seasons allows you to race the older versions as well as the new
ones.

Is it worth getting F1 2K2 just for the GTR 2002 mods?

Ten Bucks is the going price for 2k2,  GTR alone is worth that, the Ferrari challenge,
Porche Challenge and whatever else they have come up with is certainly a
bargain.   That is...if you have an interest in FIA style racing.  This would
also get you primed for the next comercial release by Simbin when they
put out the 'definitive' FIA sim.

Just ordered F1C in US. Should be delievered here in Denmark
mid-january. In F12002 with mods (AlfaRomeo/GTR/M3) I often had some
"back-to-desktop" in the middle of a championship. Is this been worked
out in F1C?

I've never run championships, so I can't say.  I seem to remember
some users who had run a champ race then started another without
restarting either the program or the computer had those problems
with 2k2.
The only time I got Crashes To Desktop(ctd) was when I was using
a 3rd party track with my 64 meg video card.  A full field would either
not load or crash shortly after the start.  I didn't have that problem
with the default F1 tracks or the GTR tracks.  And that problem
also disappeared once I moved to a 128meg card.

Thore,
I ordered F1 Challenge on Christmas day from CompUSA, but I just inquired
about the shipping date and they told me it was backordered, even though
their site said it would ship in 3 to 6 days.  They have no clue when they
will get the product from the manufacturer, so, they can't tell me when it
will ship.  Can you tell me where you found the game?  I've been looking all
over the web to order it and can't find it in stock anywhere.

Thanks,
Gary Beard
