Help for the F1 2002 challenged!

Hello fellow racing sim fanatics! Can someone direct me to a site where us
novices vis a vis F12002 in particular can learn how to drive these damn
cars in a fashion so that I am not partaking in such appalling times...

Can anyone help this woeful Canuck? Is the Driving school on the game good
enough for fine pointers?
Anything would be helpful in getting my times down!

Thanks

As I found out at a LAN party last week, you need to be more committed
when going into a corner. Enter faster, in a higher gear than you think
you should be in, keep your foot in, and you'll find you have more grip
than if you bottle it and lift.

Downforce in an instrument of the Devil, IMO.

Hi Devin just wanted to say Hi to a fellow Calgarian, and yes the driving
school does help, but mainly practice will help use the traction control but
turn most everything else of, and then just practice, practice , practice

Thanks for the tips and good to know some other fellow Calgarians out
there....
Yes I am somewhat physics challenged and I think that must be my downfall
going around corners....it seems that I am struggling mostly with corners
where I think I have to slow down but sometimes as I am doing so, I spin out
of ***y control!
I guess practice is the byword for me then.....

Treat the throttle like a gun trigger i.e squeeze it gently and release it
gently and you'll go far...

What about when I'm going into mild curves which seemingly are causing me
the most problems? Whats the procedure here?

Thanks

I think the driving school is good for beginners, because it can teach
you the optimum racing line for each track.  That is a big part of the
initial learning curve.  After a while you'll start to visualize it
and that's when you know you're moving beyond the basics.

Another good thing to learn from driving school is that in a modern F1
car, you need to brake much later than originally thought and you need
to get back on the throttle much sooner than originally planned.
Especially if you want to see those lap times drop dramatically.

As far as pratice laps goes, I think the main thing to master there is
the subtle art of "heel & toe" control betweem the brake and
accelerator. (Or perhaps the less sublime art of "left foot braking".)
As David Kaemmer (Mr. GPL) once wrote, "In a properly balanced race
car, the throttle and brake are steering controls."  As I gain more
driving experience, I find that truer words were never spoken.

Try braking into the apex and gently add throttle as you come off the
brakes.
