best F1 sim? and need F1 2002 help

by Gary Bear » Wed, 17 Dec 2003 05:40:43

I downloaded the demo for F1 2002 last night, and I am having a hard time
getting the thing to work properly.  I can get the sim to run, but when I
get onto a track, I don't get any graphics outside of the car.  I can see
the***pit (haven't tried a different view), but I can't see anything but
gray outside of the tub.  If I roll forward a bit I can see what appear to
be the polygons of a bridge, but I can't go under it, so it may not be a
bridge.  But again, it's just the polygons, no graphics.
Any ideas?

I'm getting a Logitech Momo FF wheel for Christmas and want to expand my
horizon from oval track racing to F1 racing.
Can someone please tell me what the best (most realistic) F1 sim is  these
days?

1.4 ghz Athlon XP
Win 98se
256 mb ram
GForce 2 GTS 32 Mb video card

But by all means make sure you try LFS (live for speed), which has a Formula
SAE car theese days.
Also check out netKar. The F3000 in netKar feels quite good.

You can pick up "F1 Challenge '99 - '02" for $20(US) or less.
Well worth the money. It's the only F1 sim I have experience with so I
can't say it's the best but that seems to be the general consensus.
Congrats on getting the Momo. My wife got me one for my birthday in
September and I'm loving it.

You might want to consider upgrading your video card in the near
future to get the most out of race sims.

They usually have copies at CompUSA.

I got mine there.

I think they were 14.99, I forget.
