GPL FF/Graphic problem

by Kevin Barne » Sun, 11 Feb 2001 00:26:43

I am writing here as a last ditch effort to solve an ongoing problem of
mine. I bought the Guillemont Ferrari FF wheel last year and have
encountered a problem when using FF on GPL. If I turn FF off the game runs
fine, but if I have it on I start getting problems. The problem being a
dramatic slow down in frame rate every now and again. You can be racing then
all of a sudden the screen almost freezes and then carries on. It would
appear to be frame rate related (although i do get 36 fps)but why only when
using FF. I originally had a voodoo 3 which caused the problem. I now have a
voodoo 5 and was optimistic that this would solve the problem, unfortunately
it hasnt. As I point out I have a voodoo 5 running on a PIII 500 with a
soundblaster sound card so performance shouldnt be a problem.
Hope someone can help
Thanks

Is  your  controller  sharing  a  irq  with  your  vid  card?

Try turning off poll with interrupts in your windows game controller.

What operating system are you using and are you using USB or serial? Do you
have any programs running in the background?

What are the FF settings you use in gpl.ini? the latency setting sometimes
gives strange effects if not set correctly for your machine.
