Considering buying this soundcard. I have heard stories of getting improved
frame rates with GPL.

Any views if this is true

I would say I picked up 3-4 FPS in GPL when I replaced my old PCI soundcard
with the SBLive. It's not a huge difference, but the quality of the sound is
well worth the money.

I can't comment in increases since I've only been playing GPL since my
new machine arrived, with a SBLive.

cars on the grid it drops briefly to ~28. The machine is a PIII-550 128mb
& V3 2000.

Aside from GPL, the SBLive is worth it for all-round sound quality and especially
for surround sound in dvd movies.
