I replaced my SBPCI64 yesterday with the SB Live Value and all the static
problems I had with GPL are gone! Patrick's sound files are amazing with this
card. Real Audio files play much more clearly, and Streaming Audio is almost CD
quality.

The card installed very easily in Win98 and I was back up and running,
listening to the Sebring 12 Hours, within 15 minutes.

I found the card, an OEM version, at Envision in Southern California,
www.env.com. It was on sale for $59.95 cash.

I also picked one up this weekend - replacing a Creative
Ensoniq PCI. I *am* getting some audio glitches and
static now and then. People have mentioned these problems
here before - are there any fixes for it?

Try reducing the hardware acceleration for the Sblive a notch Pat. I was
hearing some static with the Sblive, and it seemed to help.

Thanks for the tip Don. Where is this adjustment
located? I don't see it in the device manager
properties menu for the sound card.

It's under the Multimedia control panel, but it may not appear under Win95. My
home machine with Win98 displays it, but my office rig with 95 doesn't.

Go into control panel, and double click on Multimedia. This should bring up
the multimedia properties for your SbLive card. Notice the top half is for
playback, and bottom half is for recording. Click on the advanced properties
tab for playback. Then click on the performance tab. Here you can reduce the
hardware acceleration. I reduced mine 1 notch and it seemed to help. I may
have lost some effects by doing this, perhaps the number of sounds, I
haven't really been able to run GPL much lately to see, but the static
certainly seemed better.
Give it a try, I'd be interested in your results, I know you run GPL more
than I do.

Go to control panel, multimedia, on the audio tab clik on advanced
properties under playback, preferred devices then on the performance
tab. It should be the same for windows 95.

Perhaps it should be the same, but my Win95 machine had no performance tab, only
the Win98 machine had it. YMMV.
