GPL and SB Live

GPL and SB Live

I just added a Sound Blaster Live Value card to my system and have a few
questions with regard to GPL.

I find that the engine sound of my car cuts out (and stays out) pretty
frequently in the middle of a race or practice.  The other cars sounds
remain on and the tire squeal and the sound of the wind of my car
remains on.  Only the engine sound cuts out.

Does anyone else ever experience this?  Is there a setting I need to
choose first?

Also, I like to use a particular sound environment when playing GPL.
However, I have to manually load the environment before starting GPL.
Is there a way for a particular SB Live sound environment to load
automatically with GPL (or with any other program for that matter)?

Just in case it matters, my system is a Celeron 300a (o/ced to 450) with
a Voodoo2 card and 128 Megs RAM.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have same exact system Celeron300a/450 128meg RAM, voodoo2 and SBLive Value.

No problems seen on my end so I would check like the other response said,
make sure you have at least 4 channels turned on in the GPL sound config,
if you still see the problem I would check your DIRECTX5.0 or 6.0 drivers,
I was getting scratchy engine sound in GPL with DIRECTX5.0 and it went
away when I upgraded to DIRECTX6.0 seems that the sound driver was not
certified or something like that... but I have not experienced any sound
cutout problems since upgraded to SBLive.

Hope that helps.

Seeyas on the track.
