Excellent so far. Better everything. Sound, graphics (like the grid girls
:-)  ), menu, setup system, and controller setup worked fine with my Ferrari
FF wheel. None of the old bugs are there.

Wet weather is fantastic. Even the mirrors get drops on them, obscuring your
view a bit.

Anyone else have lag when turning your wheel. There's a very noticeable
delay with my wheel.

What are the digital controller rates?

Like they say in the read me, it's a "work in progress demo" so I hope
everyone will realx and not go overboard with criticism as if it's the
finished game.

Crap. I didn't notice before, but the damn slit axis bug (short travel) is
still there. Didn't notice it the first time around because I had TC on.

I sure as hell don't hope so!
GPL *was* the benchmark  -  2 years ago!

It's time to wake up and smell the coffee guys.

on.

Also the "feature" where you have to set the FF to negative for some
controllers is still there.  On the split axis thing I finally did give
up and do the DXTweak trick for F1 2001, and it still works for F1 2002.
It works, it does not affect any other controllers, it fixes ALL ISI
games all the way back to SCGT, and it does not affect Papyrus games.
So the only time I need to change it back to normal is for NASCAR Heat
or NFS:PU, both of which I hardly ever play.  I still think ISI needs to
fix this, but at least I know how to work around it.

Also the physics feel a whole lot better, especially in wet weather, and
I haven't even tried the high rate switch yet.  Overall I am highly
encouraged.

No lag here.

The digital controller rates are for gamepad and keyboard users.

How about if I go overboard with enthusiasm, would that be okay?  ;o)

GPL still IS the benchmark for F1 sims in terms of multiplayer, replay
capability, and just general user friendliness.  Poor multiplayer in a new
racing game is a joke IMHO.  GPL is getting close to being 4 years old and
has multiplayer far better than F12001.  I'm pretty much tired of the
hearing the FIA won't let 'em do it stuff.

By the way, I can host 4 broadband clients on my cable modem using the LAN
bandwidth core.ini settings in GPL and fill the rest of the field with AI
cars.  All players can see ALL of the cars ALL of the time.  Try that in
F12001.  I'll bet money you won't be able to do that in F12002 either.  I've
heard of Gamespy support so maybe there is a glimmer of hope.  If they can
match GPL in the multiplayer area and clean up the rest of the user
interface, then GPL will finally start to gather dust.

Got the following errors when trying to run the demo (same errors when trying
to run the 3dsetup app):

"File F1_2002_DEMO.EXE is linked to an export
KERNEL32.DLL:IsProcessorFeaturePresent which doesn't exist"

and

"One of the system linked devices doesn't work"

Bah - just checked the "Readme" file: it requires Win98 or later AND DirectX 8.1
Too bad.
Keep working on F12k1 mods, guys!

There may be hope. Among the gamespy-things in the F1 2002-files, there are
lines like
max multiplayer = 16, and modem < 56k allowed internet. etc.

How would one set the FF to negative? -My controller is affected... it pulls
into the turn instead of pushing against the steering motion and it fights
against straigtening the wheel instead of being self-aligning. Quite
confusing.

I don't know any of the F1 2001 tricks as I wasn't able to play it due to
hardware limitations.

In the FF-setup you have Force strength.. this goes to +100% or to -100%
On my Logitech i need to set it at -100% (inverted forces) to make it right.
