Has anyone gotten a TSW to work in split axis mode yet? I still can't get it
to recognize split axis on my TSW2Mod.
I hope this is fixed in the final release.

I only had time for a couple of laps, but first impressions were VERY
good. Just a couple of quick laps, and the driving simply -felt-
amazingly good. Can't wait to try the retail version.

Oh, and PITBABES!!!!

Jan, you are a perfect illustration of why they need to fix this - even
experienced gamers are not aware of this "feature", and because of this
they end up with it set incorrectly and therefore walk away thinking the
FF is crap.  I'm glad Andreas was able to help you, but imagine somebody
who doesn't use the internet regularly - they would be screwed.

Well, only recently did I finally give in and upgraded from Win95A to
Win95B (2.1)...
There are a few things I don't like from Win98. Win95 somehow feels
"closer to the command line" to me. (and obviuously, I like that feeling)
Who knows... I went from 95A to 95B because of the AGP acceleration
and partly because of USB support. Maybe in the end I'll go to Win98
(SE, of course) partly because of full USB support, but that by itself
isn't enough... Hmmm... it has some good networking features too. I
know what to do, in a few days (or probably, by the end of the month),
once I build another PC with all the parts I've discarded after upgrading
my PC (processor, RAM, video card, sound card, hard disk -though I have
that one as secondary right now-) plus a spare network card and a MoBo
I just bought for $1.25 +shipping, I'll test Win98SE on that machine...

Indeed there is no logic to this arrangement... for a strenght setting one
expects a 0-100% scale. Such a slider combined with an "invert FF" checkbox
would be much better as a stopgap.

An invert FF checkbox might help, but I don't think it is necessary for
the player to even know about it.  I believe all the code has to do is
look at the sign of the axis used for left and right steering, and then
it will know what sign to use for the force feedback.  Even if the
player jumps right to the FF screen and only later goes to set up the
controller it wouldn't matter, because the sign check can be made after
the physics engine is running.

F12002 Demo

by <somecallme.. » Mon, 13 May 2002 04:22:28

I've just been playing the demo for the last 2 hours and I'm very impressed.
First it runs very well and looks very good indeed and the handling seems
very good indeed, very controllable and slides in a nice progressive
fashion. However the thing that impressed me the most was the AI. Not once
in about 10 races did I get punted off by stupid AI and that's a first for a
racing game. The AI did it's very best to avoid incidents but at the same
time was agressive enough to fight back, oh what fun I've been having!

I've got really quite e***d about this game and I just can't wait for the
retail version to come out

An input configuration that works would be nice too (it's sad that
ISI's controller config is nowhere near the one Papyrus was using
almost 10 years ago).  And physics that are semi-believable when you
deviate from the ideal racing line.  I won't even get started on
single car collisions and car-to-car collisions.

Kickass.  Saved me the time of downloading the demo (which would've
saved me the $$$ on the game and further time on getting it to accept
input from my wheel/pedals in a way that reflects a real car).

I was amazed to find that I could configure my Momo wheel and Redline
pedals in seconds few with this demo. I'm not seeing any split axis bug
either.

Jason, why don't you try the demo first, instead of just talking out of
your arse about it? ATM, you're just knocking ISI on the basis of what
they have done before rather than their current work. What kind of a
dumb *** does that?!

Well, you apparently!
