GPL 1.1: will upgrading to Voodoo2 get back my 36fps?

by Ruud van Ga » Wed, 28 Jul 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,

I'm currently using Voodoo1 (yes, Diamond Monster 3D), and had no real
problems with it because I could run mostly in 36fps in 640x480, which
was fine (using a PII400, 128Mb).
But now I installed the GPL1.1 patch and bought a MSFF and turned on
FF. Now I can't get above 32fps (offline).

I know MSFF takes a lot of time to do FF because it uses the MIDI
port, so I want to ask if getting a Voodoo2 will get me back my 36fps?

I have the idea the 32fps is not helping me getting back to the times
I drove before (I used a T2 before, I like the MSFF better). And I
have the slo-mo effect when starting the race, which is irritating
(tried changing [client].sync_method=0 and 1).

Thanks,

Wanna trade? <g> Correct me if I'm wrong, but you've a not-used PDPI
L4 game controller? Since I moved from V2SLI to V3, I've got 2 V2
laying around. And, if interested, I also got an Hercules Thriller 8Mb
on the shelve. So, 1 of these boards for the PDPI? Mail me if
interested...

Waiting for 1.2 or whatever the patch for the patch will be called should
get you ate least back to where you were.  Papy is fixing the 1.1 problems
as we read.

Marc.
