GPL 1.1 - Invalid GPL.EXE?

by Maribel Sot » Wed, 14 Jul 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,

I have a heavily patched GPL installation (Pits Superpartch, new sounds,
***pits, etc.).  I tried to install the 1.1 patch, but I get a message to
the effect that my GPL.exe file is invalid.  Anyone else has encountered
this?  I imagine one would have to re-install GPL 1.0 from scratch and then
apply the patch, but this can be a pain, especially when it comes to
re-installing all the add-ons (which I enjoy greatly).  Is there a solution
that would not require this?

Also - for those of you with CD burners (CD-RW variety).  I imagine you can
burn a copy of GPL from your original, and replace the appropriate files
with the "aftermarket" add-ons, so that when and if you need to re-install
GPL, you can do so with the add-ons of your choice already included, and not
have to search high and low for all the stuff you've collected all this time
from the web.  Just a suggestion.

My compliments to Randy and Eric, for producing this patch - imperfect
though it may be (I wouldn't know).  I agree this is the obligation of the
software company, but I understand they pretty much took this upon
themselves, which is no small feat...

Hi

My guess is that you have used the Honda/Cooper TeamFix witch alters your
GPL.EXE  (like me and prob. everybody else). Try to copy the original
gpl.exe from the CD to your gpl dir, it worked for me. I assume you have the
right language version of the patch.

all you have to do is copy the gpl.exe from the cd. Use it to overwrite the
one on your hard drive. I think everyone has to do this. This insures that
you have the cd.

It's probably a bit late for you now, but as for myself iv'e built my own
super patch for
just such occasions, it contains all my favorite addons and patches for GPL
all ready to install.
I would post it someware, but it's a bit large, 13 meg and still growing.
Anyway just thought it might be an idea that some others might like to try.

Yes there is. Simply copy your original GPL.exe from the cd to your GPL
directory, and now apply the patch,.......easy!!!!
