Mostly I like it. It's in need of a bit of fine tuning I think, but
it's pretty damn good for a first release. I had some difficulty at
first with the setups, but then realized it was loading my F1 setups.
So I went in and deleted all the old F1 setups under my player name in
the SaveGT directory, and things behaved a little better.
I tried the Ferrari 550 and the Porsche 996. The Porsched felt great,
the Ferrari felt terrible. Not that I would know what either one is
like in real life, but I found it very difficult to control the braking
distances in the Ferrari, and it also seemed to oversteer horribly at
low speeds and push horribly at high speeds. I imagine much of that can
be taken care of with setup.
It also seems that the GT vehicles are more detailed than the F1's. It
was no problem at the A1 Ring, but at Spa I had to turn down the vehicle
***pit detail level in order to get decent performance. Not sure what
the problem was, because the frame rate counter stayed around 40, but it
felt like it was running at less than 20 until I turned the detail level
down. And that was with only me on the track.
Anyway I'm glad you talked me into it. Lot's of fun, and I'm sure it
will continue to be refined and expanded with time. Still kind of
looking forward to an ALMS mod though. I really want to drive LMP's in
this game.
Regards,
Hal
