GPL- Rendition vs 3dfx

My computer just isn't good enough to run GPL online. Atleast not good
enough without turning everything off (graphics and sound).  I'm running
a Creative Blaster 3D Voodoo2 w/12 meg ram.  Off line, with everything
on, detail bias all the way to the right and sound all the way to the
right and 19AI, I can get 21-28fps.  While racing offline I'll turn
thigs off till I get that 36fps.

I'm thinking of getting a rendition card but don't want to loose the
auwsome vissuel effects I get from the VD2.  Before I buy one, Could
someone take a snap shot with a rendition card with all the graphics on
and send it to me?  I'd like to comair the diferences.

Thanks,
Mike Barlow

What CPU do you have in your box and how much memory do you have?
You may find that it's your CPU and not your graphics card.
Cheers,
Paul

I have a P2/333 64mb Monster3D2 12mb and get 36fps online.

Turn off all mirror textures, dynamic lighting and spectacular highlights.
Turn off dust, dirt and skid marks.

Set detail to 0% (all the way to the *left*)

I use 800x600 (no increase in 640x480 with the V2).
Mirrors to cars only
Trackside objects to ALL.

Works for me,
Jason

I have found that the frame rate hit of racing online is alot lower than
running with AI.  I suspect that you are close to being able to run
online with your current setup.  You might want to turn off the big hits
in frame rate (details in mirror, driver arms/wheel, etc.).

Give it a try....
