WinXP and GPL Problem

by Michael Wollenschei » Wed, 26 Dec 2001 01:14:29

Hi,

i have AMD 1200,Geforce 3 200Ti,356 RAM and Windows XP.

Games like Quake3 work fine and the frame rate is descent using the
Detonator 21.83 for XP.

My problem is GPL.

Single playing gives me 36fps using D3D but the Audigy card glitches a bit.

Online playing the fps drops to 20fps on 1024.Way to low and it stutters all
the time.I think,it stutters also in offline mode, but not that much.

There has to be a problem around with the soundcard, the graphics or
what.Maybe because the video card and everything is on the same IRQ?I dont
know

Anybody else with this problem!?

I also have sound glitches, video is perfect in D3D and Opengl using FOVED
and so on, but the sound is bad....

I have read that to fix it you have to reduce or disable hardware
acceleration forthe sound but it didn't work here.

Similar problems under XP.

Frame rates are excellent, though for some bizarre reason they only read out
as 2.47fps, constantly.  It's obvious this isn't correct.

Several times per lap, the game will 'stutter' very, very badly.  It's
intermittent and doesn't seem to have a pattern.  It's so bad sometimes that
when it clears up, I'm headed off the track.

Nothing fancy is running in the background, either.

No other games exhibit the problem.

This really bugs me as I'm starting to get into GPL heavier now :(

WinXP and GPL Problem

I'm having the same problem under win 2000. I installed some win '98 drivers
for my soundblaster pci64 card and that cleared it up but, caused a whole
slew of other problems in other apps. Now I'm back to the default drivers.
When I disabled hardware acceleration, there was a brutal delay between what
happened on screen and the audio so I raised acceleration to 1 notch below
off and that has worked the best for me so far. I'm considering getting a
newer soundcard and I have the feeling that, that would clear up the
problems...
Let me know if anyone figures out a workable solution.

Perhaps your cpu is over 1400MHz and you need the cpu fix?
