GPL Reboots WinXP PC

I've just built a new Athlon system which is running fine except for the
above problem. The system goes straight from in the car to a black screen
followed by a "from scratch" reboot. There are 2 things with this:

1. It always happens at the same point, at the end of lap 3 when the pit
board comes out for the first time.
2. It only happens when the JFcarsets are loaded.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Tried so far (makes no difference):
Altered screen resolutions
Changed D3D settings in core.ini (from default to recommended for GeForce on
fast systems)
JFCarsets update 1 and 2
Different cars

System:
Athlon 1.4/266
Epox 8K7A
256KB DDR RAM
GeForce 256 DDR (NVidia 21.83 driver)
Windows XP - Home

Apart from this problem I'm more that happy with XP, interesting interface,
installation and hardware recognition is a breeze compared with 95/98, and
lots of handy features (multiple user handling is very good, NT legacy I
guess) and apart from the GPL reboot problem, very stable.
Thanks
Martin

I thought WinXP was supposed to be more stable and not allow a game to cause
the computer to crash or reboot?

Try not to use the concepts winXP and Thought together at the same time.
It will only give you a headache.

This is the false claim made by lots of people out there.  In my experience,
when running games, XP/2K/NT is just as, if not more, likely to crash the
system as 9x.  I've no doubt that XP is rock solid while running Word,
Excel, Photoshop etc.

This sounds very similar to a problem I had.  I narrowed it down to 21.83
video drivers.  I run W98SE and when I updated drivers everything ran fine
except GPL.  Like you, the problem only arose when I came around to view the
pitboard, but for me at the beginning of lap 2 (the first time the pitboard
is displayed). I would loose the picture and the game although the PC was
still "active" but the only way out was a reboot.

Hope this helps.

I've had exactly the same as you describe with Win98SE.  It does seem to be
a driver issue.
