GPL SlowMo + Dell 4100 Notebook + WinXP

I've lost my mojo.  Well, I've lost my GPL, which is close to the same.
After putting it aside for a few months, I reinstalled it.  I have the funky
problem now that, after a few seconds of driving, the whole thing goes into
slow motion.  The frame counter still shows 36fps, Fraps shows about 15 or
so, but life is going by at about 1/6th real time.  Annoying, to say the
least.

It's version 1.2, with the CPU speed patch, and the same is true for the
OpenGL (new) or D3D.  Other than that, the install is stock (no new tracks
or cars).  The PC is a Dell 4100 notebook, 1GHz, GeForce2Go (GeForce 2MX
basically), WinXP Pro.  It ran flawlessly before, but I have no idea what
has changed.

Anyone ever have this before?

cheers
Stephen

Try turning the hardware acceleration off for the sound chip. I get a
similar effect on my 8100, mainly when I hit barriers (I know - don't hit
them!).

Hope that helps

Paul

Hi,

If your notebook has a 1Ghz processor then the CPU speed patch is not
required. I was led to beleive that you should only install the CPU speed
patch if you were having a specific problem with GPL running too fast. It
seems possible that the patch is slowing your system down.

Regards

Russell

Thanks for the suggestions.
