Thomas pedal opinions

Here's my situation:

I have BRD Speed7 pedals which I adore.  Unfortunately, they are acting
up from time to time (cutting out and throttle input getting stuck in
fully on position).  This is unacceptable for such expensive pedals, so
if this continues I'll have to ditch them.

I already have a Logitech Momo Force wheel, which I am happy with and do
not want to replace.  So I'm looking at standalone pedal options.  The
Act-Labs performance pedals seem too cheap (too many reports of broken
springs).

One of the few products that seems to fit my requirements are the Thomas
pedals.

Anyone have any experience with these and can comment on them?

Do they ever "cut out" in sims, or have throttle and/or brake positions
get stuck reporting "full-on"?

From the pictures on the website it doesn't look like they are
adjustable, which is a negative.  I wouldn't be using them flat on the
floor, but in a race-frame.  Anyone know if they work well in such a
setup?

Does the USB adapter work trouble-free?

Thanks!

I can second the opinion that the Act-Labs pedals aren't all that great.
Very long throws, thought I was driving a truck.

All I can comment on is their function. I have never had mine cut in and
out, and have never had a full-on or full-off experience either. They aren't
adjustable IIRC, as you said and that may interfere with using them in a
***pit/frame setting like you describe.

They are kind of longish in the throw department, but unlike the other
poster, I actually like it. I ditched a LWFF and their tiny 1 inch of travel
(way too little throw for my taste) just to get some variation between full
off and full on, more gradations if you will. It seemed like to me that the
LWFF was either all on or all off with such little travel. Made spinning out
from too much gas and locking up from too much brake way too easy for my big
feet. The Thomas pedals (that came with my TSW2 Cup) fixed all that plus
some with their excellent spring tension and smooth travel over the entire
length of their throw. I honestly don't think I could race as competitively
with any shorter pedals now that I have gotten used to the Thomas version.

Also, I have no experience with the USB adapter(s). Although I do run Win
XP, I have had no problems just using the game port. I have an older TSW2
Cup that has the split/axis (newer ones apparently do not have the option)
so I am hesitant to try to fix something that doesn't seem broke yet.

I was thinking of getting a set of these for my Logitech Momo.  They look
just like the set that came with the CDS4000's.  I had a CDS4000 that was
built in 1997 and I never had a problem with it in 5 years...

I have a TSW2 Modified wheel with 3 pedals and the USB adapter (supposedly
needed for winXP), and couldn't be happier with them.  I've never had any
problems with them performing incorrectly.  Have you tried replacing the
potentiometers for your BRD pedals?  I'm not sure quite how to attach the
TSW2M pedals to a race frame.  Perhaps email the people at

about how to do this.  They have a reputation as being very friendly and
helpful people.

Indeed.  I've paired the 6000-series pedals with a LWFF (Ol' Red) and the
combo works great.  ECCI has all the info you need to pair their pedals with
almost any decent FF wheel (Logi, TM, etc.) and can set it up for you before
they ship it.

Cut out or "full-on"?  I don't think I've *ever* heard anyone complain about
that with a TSW.

My TSW2mod has a pedal footprint of about 11.5 inches wide by about 11 inches
deep.  The main base is about 4 inches high, and the pedals stick up about 8.5
inches total.  Does that help any?

I use the BRD Speed 7 pedals with my TSW and couldn't be happier.  I
previously had an ECCI CDS4000.  Are you sure you want to give up on your
Speed 7 pedals so quickly?  It sounds like you may just have a pot or bad
wire connection.  Have you tried contacting Tim Ball at Interactive?  If
you're in the US and are considering getting rid of your Speed 7's, please
let me know.

Steve!!!

I emailed Ecci earlier today, and they wrote back that they are NOT selling
the Trackstar6000 pedals seperately, so, did you buy the whole set and use
just the pedals?

I admit, maybe you got an early order in before they shut it down or
something?  I want those pedals bad!

PS dont confuse the 6000 with the A-Frame (tractor style pedals)
trackstar3000 pedals...

I'm sorry; yer right - it's the bottom-hinged Trackstar 3000 pedals that I
have paired with the LWFF, not the overhead-hinged 6000-series.  But,
considering the tractor-ish 3000 pedals alone are $200, $600 for the $6000
package--including the wheel--seems like a bargain!
