home network. I installed the NR2003 demo on 2 of the machines which are
relatively equal in capability. All was fine and with mostly medium
graphics settings I get 50 to 100 fps in 800x600 16 bit depending on the
situation on the track. All 3 computers run DirectX 8.1. Below are the
specs for those 2 computers that work fine:
Computer #1:
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Motherboard:
CPU Type Intel Celeron-S,
1300 MHz (13 x 100)
Motherboard Name Soyo TISU (6 PCI, 1

Then I installed the demo on the 3rd computer which is much more capable
than the other 2 and is significantly faster on every other application or
game I've encountered. On the 3rd computer with the same graphic settings
as the other 2, I get at most 20 fps and the sound on the menu screens is
corrupted. The in game engine sound is relatively normal, but at 20 fps I
haven't messed with it much.
I thought maybe something about the sound card was bogging it down so I
disabled sound in the demo and in Windows. No help. I tried several
varieties of Nvidia drivers including 40.72 and 41.09. No difference.
Sound card drivers are the latest I could find. All other games I've tried
on this machine including UT2003 and F1 2002 run great.
Now it gets even weirder. Out of curiosity I launch NR2002 which has always
run great on that machine. Now it too is bogged down to 20 fps. It doesn't
matter if I use DirectX or OpenGL. As a last resort I installed DirectX 9.
No difference. Below are the specs for the 3rd machine:
Computer:
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Motherboard:
CPU Type AMD Athlon XP, 1466
MHz (5.5 x 266) 1700+
Motherboard Name ECS K7S5A (5 PCI, 1

Motherboard Chipset SiS 735
System Memory 512 MB (PC2100 DDR

BIOS Type AMI (12/15/01)

Any advice you can give is much appreciated.
