I'm as amazed as you are... it's not *that* hard a track, IMO, and the
people who run in these races are generally very solid. Fixed fast setup was
a pig though (IMNSHO), perhaps some people just pushed too hard to get to
the sort of times they thought they ought to be doing. Was it Mario Andretti
who said "you can't go fast on an oval until the car is ready to go fast"?

Jan./still ticked off about the game blaming me for an incident I didn't
cause.
=---
PS.: not to mention it completely messing me up on a yellow flag pitstop at
C***te. Two cautions at C***te BTW, one caused by a severly warping
car.

Hey guys, had a lot of fun racing with you today, you're all pretty fast, I
gotta say, I did not make one competitive pass all race long, till that last
lap shootout, I was able to drag race to the line and just squeezed
by......to get 5th. In between the wrecks, there was some veeeerry close
racing at times, the kind that makes you pucker up. All good fun.......

I dunno, from my limited experience, I find high speed turns are always a
recipe for wrecks because you are on the limit the whole way and there is
simply no room for error.  I found the pucker factor was just too high and
only attempted passing on the straights.

I wanted to apologize for my role in caution #7, from my replay it looked
like DGF got into the wall in turn 3, ZZ Busch checked up and I pushed him
into DGF.  I think (hope) it was the only one I was involved in.

It was great to race with you gentlemen, looking forward to the next one.

>7 cautions for 27 laps...

Ooh, that was depressing.  My car didn't load, and no one else had my number.
I was *supposed* to be driving Ryan Newman's #12.  It worked fine LAST week,
but not today.  Didn't change a THING.  Slower than everyone in the field AGAIN
during practice.  This is getting monotonous.  Started almost last, ahead of a
couple of cars that didn't get a qual effort.  During the second caution, I got
hit from behind on the pace lap and damaged.  Thought I would be given the
black flag for speeding on pit road, so I drove through the pits on the
restart.  Third caution, I got caught out when everyone slowed down right when
the flag dropped.  I passed a car, and got a black flag for passing on the left
before the s/f line.  That's a stupid ***ing rule, IMO.  Come in to serve the
penalty, get out about 12 seconds ahead of the leader(Achim).  He's catching me
at about 3-4 seconds per lap.  Another yellow comes out when he's about 3
seconds behind.  Cool - I can make up my lap.  Surely he won't force the issue
and lap me.  Wrong - he got me coming out of turn 3 to put me a lap down.  All
this within at MOST 15 laps.  At that point, it wasn't even worth the effort to
continue.  I pulled off the track and quit.  I was so pissed that I didn't even
bother to run at C***te.  At least I hope *someone* had fun today - it sure
in hell wasn't me... :(

I'm not sure why we had all the yellows today. I just wish the pace car
didn't take us around and around when one lap would do.

Phasor, I looked at that replay earlier and there's nothing to apologize for
as far as I'm concerned. It just looked like racing to me. That stuff
happens. You might have gained some extra speed due to the draft and being
in the middle. I wasn't touching the wall though, I was just very close to
it as I always like to tuck up tight to it and then enter turn 3 right of
the racing line, and brake a little deeper into it than others do. Besides,
ZZ Busch thought it was all his fault so shhhhh. :-)

hmmm sounds like we need to EDUCATE the non-Nascar-fan drivers about
letting lappers back by in yellow flag situations.....odd that
"go-for-throat" Americans would be so forgiving in racing that way.
But....that's pretty common in Nascar, when there is a yellow, the leader
will often let off and allow recentlly lapped cars to get back on the lead
lap...The feeling is THEY may need help later in the season so most drivers
try to be generous when yellows are thrown.  And......since this is friendly
competiton,  hopefully we will see more of this in the future...

Sounds to me like a lot of you today found out there's a whole lot more to
NASCAR racing, than just turning in some quick laps during practice - then
running solo until the race end.  That's typical GPL - not NASCAR racing.
Also, knowing the "official" NASCAR rules along with the "driver agreed"
un-official NASCAR rules is a key to racing in NASCAR.

How many people would play golf with you, if every time you hit your ball
out of bounds, your opponent got the two-stroke penalty?  Well, it may not
work that way in golf....but in NASCAR racing it does!  When you***up,
usually you and one or two of your competitors "pay the penalty."  Maybe
more!

I think I'll stay out of these RAS races for a while, until the "kiddies"
learn the rules, and how to race under them.  ...lol...

Some folks will let racers get their lap back, and others feel that their
hard work to put you a lap down shouldnt be just thrown out the window. It's
not personal, just the way some folks race. Same as in any Nascar racing
series. Dont let it eat ya too much. ;>)

Pocono is not that hard but you do get a lot of speed on the straights and
have relatively slow corners. Compound that with the usual latency and some
cars running much faster lap times than others and you have a recipe for
disaster. C***te was a lot of fun. Betty somebody?(race winner), David
Fisher, and myself ran nose to tail swapping the lead for over half of the
race.

Only recipe for disaster was how people were driving...........lots of
excuses being made, IMO :)

Yea, the C***te race was excellent. For me, the first 30 laps were
amazing, and the last 20 were excellent too.
