Pocono Today

Yeah, well, my family given a LOT to let me online race and run a league
over the years.  So if I get in a "bad" race, I bail, especially since I
come home from work on Saturday, and almost go straight to the pc.
Bailed yesterday, I'll do it again in the future, fwiw, not just here, but
elsewhere too, when it's not a points, etc. event.

Racing is one thing; following a pace car is another.   I've never, and
won't, bail because of a moderately damaged car, can't win/finish well, etc.
But when over 50% of the race is under yellow like yesterday, I'm gone<G>

Like it's been said, it's just a game; some real world things are more
important to me in the above circumstances.

I guess we shouldn't take Rascar *this* seriously :-)

Thanks Tom

I guess I should be flattered at being called a "kiddie". I turn 40 this year

On reflection I am sure you did not intend to insult anyone - it just came
across that way - you do have a distinctive style!

Cheers

Yep, Isotrip in the #53 dissappeared in the run up to the tunnel. Things
were bunching up ahead, but I felt I couldn't use up the space between
myself and the others to compemsate and keep my speed up because at any time
the #53 could rematerialise and cause a mess if it was superimposed on my
car. So I slowed too and Phil jammed me into the wall (and, because he kept
moving, his LPI remained intact... grrrrr!! ;-)).

Just looking for Tom's wisdom on how being more clued up about the unwritten
rules of NASCAR could have prevented that one.

Jan, no rules on this one, the internet is a flaky place to race, my
thoughts are that if you and the invisible racer are both going as hard as
you can, and following your normal lines, then a second or two blink-out
won't cause much of a problem, he'll probably blink-in in the same relative
position, but any longer than that, and you have to assume he's gone( and if
he's not, he should be.....courtesy), so I would say "When in doubt, Gas
It!"

Hehe...on my replay, if I go to your in-car camera, I hear the wall scraping
noise for most of your braking into T3...I guess you were close enough to
trigger the sound on my replay even though you weren't into the
wall...that's close. :)

About a foot and a half from it. I guess that's pretty close. :-) I guess
the info sent to you guys was a little off. I've clipped that part of the
replay to send to you, but I don't think Bush would be interested. :-)

No worries, Achim - I just need to find more speed.

As I aluded to in my other reply - I don't have the confidence right now that I
*won't* take someone else out.  I'm one of those drivers who would rather end
my own race by taking it off the track than crash into someone else.

You're welcome.

Nah, he would have been in first place anyway.  I'm not mad at Achim - he's a
racer.  I'm mad at MYSELF for being so damned slow to be there in the FIRST
place.

I'm simply not very fast in N2002.  Last in practice, last in the race.  At
least this time I didn't bring out the first caution.  I've caused the first
caution in probably 3 out of 5 races I've been in - solo crash.  I don't
*think* I've affected anyone else when I crashed, but it still pissed me off.

Let's just say that I'm doubting my ability to keep from ruining the race for
someone else.  Right now, I feel like 'King Hiro - that's NOT a good feeling to
have.

I can't.  I'm having trouble staying with the AI even at 80-85%.  Even if I do
happen to be faster than the AI, I usually eff it up somewhere.  That's MY lack
of skill, and I can't blame anyone one or anything else for my shortcomings.
Shit happens...daily.

Isotrip

Pocono Today

by Isotrip » Tue, 16 Apr 2002 20:54:36

As soon as I noticed my connection Bar Graph was spiking way high I tried to
get my car off of the track as quickly and safely as possible. This entire
situation left me feeling very uncomfortable as I had cars ahead of me as
well as behind me that I had no way of knowing where they were (would be)
located when I would warp back in. I fear that I caused an incident with
this entire situation. I hope not but I fear that it is true, as I finally
had gotten my car stopped so I could "Retire" and got back to the Session
Screen it showed up as everyone racing back to the yellow. If I did cause an
incident, then I really do apologize! I can only say that I tried my best to
avoid any incident due to this. I have posted about this as well as my
apology to the #31 car for an earlier incident in the race, at the RASCAR
Forum.

Up to this Warp incident I was have a great time, and what I seen around me
within the race everyone was racing clean and giving room. So I feel even
worse for being the possible cause of a major incident. I may not be the
fastest on the track but I do take pride in being a clean racer that is
aware of the written and non-written rules of NASCAR, and then something
such as this happens. :o(

I do plan to race again if I can figure out some way to get some type of
broadband connection. At this point the only one availible to me is Via
Sattelite, and the Initial cost is a bit out of my price range at the
moment. So it very well may be quite some time before I can race again with
the RAS group.

again sorry!
