there is a patch somewhere that fixes the static in gpl for the sound
blaster live card. can somebody point me to a link? thx in advance.

Static with sb live card ? Not on my system. But perhaps downloading
the latest drivers from the creative web site would help ?

What worked for me and others was to completely remove the SBlive drivers
and software after installing GPL and then reinstalling the Creative stuff.

meaning, installing gpl screwed up some sb live file and/or setting or
something?

I'm not saying that, all I'm saying is that re-installing worked for me and
others I've heard of. It's no big deal, just a couple of minutes work!

No static on my SB Live! either, so I would suggest that there is no patch
as the problem is elsewhere. Check for a later version of the SB Live!
drivers, completely reinstall them etc.
