GPL 1.1 offline framerate-slowdown

I read about all this sh** going on with GPL online play, but here's
something different: I get sort of a "slow-motion" effect when there are
many cars around, especially at race starts (19 opponents). This did not
happen prior to the patch.
Now what's interesting is that the framerate-counter does not indicate
anything strange,  and the graphics appear to be very smooth, but darn slow.
It's all like a very smooth slomo effect, speeding up as soon as the field
stretches out after the first couple of turns.

Anyone else?

Add me too! The start at Spa is no fun this way, Eau Rouge is hard enough
without this 'feature'!
Please Papy, fix it!

Well, you should probably still have a CORE.INI file in your GPL folder....
if not, you can get one at Alison's site or rename the one that's there
(sorry for being unclear, but I can't remember if the patch leaves one
there).

Anyway, what you NEED is not all the online stuff (like net send synch,
etc....). But you DO need the old timing method of GPL 1.0. And this is how
to get it.

Create a text file called CORE.INI (I know you can do this Mea***er because
I've seen your clutch pages :-). Anyway, then add the following line to it
EXACTLY like it is below:

[ Task ]
synch_method = 0                            ; Client synch method

what this does is bring the old timing system back (the new one's value is
1). If you only care about offline, then just add this string to your
core.ini and save it. If you want all the goodies, pop over to Alison's
place and get hers.

I'm having the offline slowdown/speedup effect too, which wasn't
there in GPL1.0 and I also have that

[ Task ]
synch_method = 0

in my core.ini

The effect can even be seen while watching replays.

Yes. My slo-mo lasts about 5 seconds but sometimes less and sometimes not at
all.
PII 400, 64MB RAM, V2, MSFF. Res = 640x480, ~24fps at start, ~30fps after start.
