A GPL FF Believer

I bought GPL more than a year ago, spent a couple of frustrated months
skidding into hay bales, put it on a shelf.  Browsing this NG not long
ago, I came across the confident assertions that a FF wheel could make a
big difference, so I bought a LT, did the whole squash ball thing with
the brake pedal, diddled settings endlessly.  Nothing.  I could feel the
feedback so faintly I couldn't imagine what people were talking about
when they raved about the "information" sent them by a FF wheel.

Then, I wandered into the thread(s) on core.ini.sample.  Eureka!  I made
the switch, jumped into my Coventry, and nearly had the wheel jerked out
of my hand at the Glen.  Great God in the Morning.  Of course, it means
I'm going to have to learn to drive all over again, but this time with
the feeling that I'm actually connected to the pavement and might have
some control over the machine.  Thanks to the men who brought this to
our attention; high priority alert to FF users who are wondering what
the buzz is all about.

I don't know what you changed but I upped (per someones suggestion in
this fine newsgroup) the 'force_feedback_damping' parameter from the
default 40 to 1200. Oh boy what a difference!
