Over the weekend, I was in so many online races I can't remember half of
them - although I do clearly remember beating a field of five or six
Lotus-mounted hotshoes in my Eagle at Monza. Twice. Second time from
the pole.
Well, in all fairness, I should mention that I got trounced at Rouen,
though. Three times, in fact, although I did manage third in the last
one. I was up to third in a race at Zandvoort when I got disconnected
due to a problem with the host's ISP.
There were anywhere between six and ten people in the races I was
running in, and I heard rumors of 14 people in some races later in the
day. All these were hosted via cable modems.
General consensus seems to be that there has never been anything like
multiplayer racing in GPL. It's incredible - and to be doing it with
folks thousands of miles away, well...

Been in a few 56k hosted 3 player races at Silverstone, Monaco, Mosport, and
Zandvoort, really nice, but I'd dearly love to get into some of these cable
modem hosted races. But can't find 'em. Lemme in, please. I'm slow,
you'll still win...promise. :-)

Alison,
The 14 people record has been smashed. I hosted an (get this) 18
person romp at Monza. To ensure no one's frame rate got hit, I just
hosted and watched the race. It was wicked! No one was complaining
either.

the quality of your connection ALWAYS leaves a lot to be desired :)

About the frame-rate or about the fact that you'd decided to sit that
one out...? ;-)
Cheers!

BTW, I uncommented the clock line in the core.ini and
it seemed to have some positive effect. Should I try
lowering it further?
