Hi Kevin,
Your best best is to find a FAST server.
I was connected to Tim McArther's server for 9 hours
and was booted out twice (but so was everyone else).
My latency was 0.111 (111ms) with a cable modem.
You should be trying for 250ms or less. Check your
latency three times in a row to see if it's fluxuating a
lot (over 250ms). If it is, that's bad; however, if it's
fluxuating below or around 250ms thats OK.
To find your latency (after attaching to a server):
1. Close the chat window
2. Press ALT-L
3. Open the chat window to see your latency.
To find your latency before connecting to a server just open
a DOS BOX and type in PING <the ip address>
(Multiply the 'time' value by 2 to get the latency).
Example PING 24.1.24.139 to see if Tim is up :)
