Does anybody know how to play GP2 over the Internet or over a network
card?

You can't.It isn't IPX compatible.

You cannot play gp2 over the internet (not directly, and at the same time
anyway!!!!!) or a network.

You can however, play it over a modem link, or join up two pc's via a
null modem cable link.

Alternatively you can play a multi-player game in gp2 by selecting more
than  one active driver, but the drivers cannot race at the same time.
GP2 selects automatically which driver is currently driving, and for how
long.

And finally you can play multi-player games with other players over the
internet, via saving your current pos in a multi-player race, and then
e-mailing the saved game file to the other players to continue the race.
