I have one. With FF on the wheel is loose for 5 - 10mm in the middle but
self centres with more lock. With FF off there is no self centering and the
steering is very light and direct. It is probably best with FF on after you
get used to the feel as it may be accurate. As a wheel alignment mechanic I
know that old fashioned steering boxes were often sloppy in the middle.

I also want to know what the Saitek R4 is like.

thanks
Russell

I'm very happy with the wheel. It's the most rugged and stable wheel I
ever had. Without FF effects you can configure the resistance of the
wheel
in 4 discrete steps. After using it for a week with GPL I'd never want
to
go back to my GP1+CH pedals. Yes, the MS wheel has the first pedals I
like
more than the CH pedals.

BTW, see my little review about FF in sims I posted yesterday.
ViperRacing
is a must-buy for the physics and esp. for the FF effects.

Awww, man, I wish you hadn't of said that.  That's the exact same setup I
have (GP1 and CH pedals), and the wife's already po'd about:

a V550
a second Monster 2
GPL
MSCFS
Fallout 2
EAW, and after this endor***t
probably a FF wheel--all in the last couple of weeks.

Looks like an early Christmas and continued reservations in the doghouse for
me!

Go into the joystick setup, where you can adjust the deadzone...

Sorry for that!

Thankfully my cat doesn't mind when I'm spending lots of cash on toys,
unless of
course I'd start buying the cheap cat food... ;^)

I don't get that one, you mean you have to stay with the dog outside?
You've got
a tough woman, then! ;^)

I meant it for a figure of speech, but if I actually break down and buy that
wheel, it's just liable to happen for real. <g> I actually picked up a
Microsoft FF Wheel box in the local EB this afternoon, and looked down at a
$49.99 price tag!  If the folks at that EB hadn't been so good to me over
the years . . . And it was still very tempting.  At any rate I'm happy with
guaranteed dibs on whatever I want that they get in and getting to feel like
such a nice guy. :-\
