I loved GPL a couple years ago, but now I use a GForce and this sim is
somewhat dated.   What sims besides NASCAR 4 are realistic and have
good gameplay?

Thanks

With all the add-ons, IMO GPL is about as good as it gets until maybe WSC is
released.  The updated textures and cars available running at higher
resolutions make it look almost life-like.  And of course the physics engine
again IMO, hasn't been beat yet, as I'm sure you are aware, N4 is based on
the GPL engine.

Well, while it too looks a tad dated and has less than perfect network
play, GP3 (2K) is still the most realistic racing sim'.  My guess is
that it will stay that way until GP4 is released.  Whilst there are
things to admire about GPL, hugely powered cars with no brakes or
aerodynamics to speak of aren't exactly my idea of the perfect
*racing* car and make for a relatively sloppy gameplay experience.

N4's physics engine is an evolution of GPL's, and to be fair -
beat's GPL's physics hands down.

...Except for the fact that you only turn left :P

GPL is still the best sim IMO. N4 is great for ovals, GP3 2000 is the
most realistic F1 sim (if you don't mind the shitty graphics too much)

Still doesn't change the fact that it's NASCAR, though.

Could be far worse... it could be IRL.

Enjoy it anyway.  There's more than one racing series in the world<G>

Ouch.. that'll leave a mark....

btgoss

Seriously tho'...please note that IRL attendance is up and CART's is
down...IRL adds more tracks and keeps a fairly good TV deal... CART has to
shop around and go with FOX...which will treat CART like a redheaded
stepchild to the cash cow that is NASCAR.... just my thoughts tho'

So how does that not make it based on GPL's engine, if its an evolution?
And as another poster writes...

First things first- the only reason the IRL has any attendance at all is
because of ticket bundles with NASCAR events- they can't give a ticket away
to anything but those events and the 500. CART, on the other hand, put more
butts in the seats at the last 2 events than the IRL could ever dream of if
it wasn't for the aforementioned bundling. The street events routinely see
200, 000 people for the weekend. And there is no way that any TV deal could
be worse than being on ABC. The FX/Speedvision combo will work nicely, I
think- but TV isn't what it's all about. NASCAR is made for TV, and the IRL
is just a low-caliber wannabe NASCAR. CART will live on the raceday
attendance and the burgeoning worldwide appeal. The IRL should have died a
couple years ago, and hopefully will in the next couple years(when Tony
George runs out of money)- we don't need the gene pool polluted any more
than it is, with half-ass drivers and has beens given any credence. The IRL
is the only place they can run outside of local short tracks, which is where
they belong, IMO.
Just my opinion, but that opinion is that the IRL sucks and always will....

I never said it wouldn't!

I just wanted to clarify (unlike the way you put it) that N4's physics is in
fact *better*  than  GPL's - although they are both _based_ on the same
core.

When you have 1 person at the race, and somebody else walks into the track
because they think the county fair demolition derby is going on by
mistake.... that is not a good definition of an increase in attendance.

Tony George:  "Look Ma!  I doubled the attendance!!"    ;)
