F1RC where is the f'in patch???

by Moe Lefaiv » Tue, 03 Jul 2001 20:45:27

This is absurd, are they really develloping a patch, or is it gonna be
called F1RC2?

Ubisoft of old was much better than this ***they are flinging at us. I
think this game patched blows all other competition away, but in it's
current state it just blows.

 A Very frustrated F1RC owner.

How would ever think that "this game patched blows all other competition
away" if you have no idea if or even know what will be in this 'Vaporware
Patch' before they do it? Or even if they do it al?? How many months has
everyone been wishing/complaining about this now? They apparently, are
not consumer friendly but this old news to me!!

F1RC where is the f'in patch???

Moe,

Saw a UK games mag today - can't remember which one - which promised a
"first preview of F1RC 2".

As an equally frustrated F1RC owner, I just feel like we're going to have to
wait for that, ie F1RC 2 is, in fact, the patch. Crappy customer service,
but that just seems to be the way most things are nowadays...

Rick.

Ubisoft has failed to even respond to numerous e-mails from me, a paying
customer, about a video problem that kept me from even running F1RC. Don't hold
your breath waiting for a patch, or even a reply to your concerns. You've been
burned, face it. Mine's back at EB.

Now, Papyrus...there's a developer with some concern about their customers.

And if you walk into your local games shop and buy F1RC2, they will keep on
screwing you.  Why the frig should they make a patch for free, when the
there are plenty of suckers out there willing to shell out for a new game.
Who's to say the next one will work ??
The customer is King. That has always been the way. it may not seem like it
sometimes, but it's true.
Wise up. Don't buy F1RC 2.

Hey, I at least got a response from them--albeit a two-year-old form letter
that didn't have the first damn thing to do with F1RC!  :-)

Ubi have responded to my emails on the F1RC patch within a day on about 6
occasions now, and historically they have provided excellent CS for F1RS and
MGPRS2. Going back to Pod, they also performed well.  However, there is no
doubt at all that they are now - not months ago as many people moaned about
here - in an embarrassing situation regarding the F1RC patch. It's been way
too long.

Amazing isn't it?  See my post in another thread about how GPL/Papy can come
into any thread on this group regardless of subject matter!

hi,

sorry to be at odds with most of the GPL'ers, but I love F1RC.  I
enjoy the incredible realism of GPL and play that the most, but when I
feel like some modern F1 racing, i stick to F1RC.  I don't have the
problem with the AI as I tend to drive in the top 6 anyway and its a
bit safer there.

I have GP3 installed with all the addons.  Certainly they improve the
game tremendously, but I have to say that it doesn't e*** me at all.

I agree that the patch is overdue & that the current situation is
beyond remedy for most.  When I look at previous games (especially
POD), I have to say that this does *not* appear to be the Ubisoft of
old.  I would speculate that the involvement of the FIA is just as
much, if not more, to blame.

Perhaps they should have stuck with the approach to licensing that
they had with previous versions.  Just bundle a name changer and sound
/ graphics editors in the box and leave it all up to us.  My current
F1RC has been updated with improved sound, track graphics & physics
patches and so I still am quite happy to play it.  As for the
hotlapping feature, excellent.  The game isn't perfect, but the main
fault (AI) doesn't bother me that much.   I *will* buy the sequel if
it is shown to have fixed all these problems.   As for the GP3 2001
addon?  It has to be pretty much better than the current GP3 + the
2001 patch + gpxpatch 1.3 for me to consider buying it.

As for F12000CS.  A distant 3rd.  Expecting much more from the sequel.

All my own 2cent opinion.

Regards,
istoff

well, the official patch is not out yet, but as in GPL or GP3 the
"unofficial" ones are blossoming.

New release from G-rone and the rest of the gang available on
http://www.racesimcentral.net/:1046/

Get it and try, with the physics update, the sound updates (personnaly I
don't like the hudson sounds but...) the car and track updates this is still
miles ahead of any other F1sims, I don't have problems with the AI anymore
and I really enjoy this game....
