Nascar 2002 Demo

Nascar 2002 Demo

by Rick Clyd » Mon, 04 Feb 2002 01:04:20

Tried the Nascar 2002 demo...

Here were my first observations:
1) No Force Feedback (I use Logitech Wingman Formula Force). I tried many
things but no luck.
2) Slower framerate (than N4)
3) Colours looked faded compared to N4 (ran N4 right after and the colors
looked brilliant)
4) The driving seemed just a tad easier (but that may have been only initial
impressions however).

Now these could be all demo issues... but so far have no great desire to
purchase 2002 until I find out more about these items.

cheers ...Rico

If you play the demo and read a couple articles about what they put in N2002
then even you will see that it is nothing but a minor update to N4. Not
worth the money. I'll wait a month and pick it up for $15. Although I do
still have a $30 gift card from Xmas so I could use that in a month and then
pay what it's really worth! $5.00

...Which is supposed to show what the game is CAPABLE of...DUH...  Why the
attitude?  Rick even *allowed* for the fact that there might only be problems
in the demo.  If the demo sucked in your opinion(not saying it does) would you
be all fired up to buy the retail version?  What's the point of having a demo
at ALL if it doesn't do a good job of showing how the full game will run?

I would have to agree with that,  many game purchase decisions are made on
the impression left by the demo.
I rarely buy a game unless it offers a demo, or if it is just so dang good
you read the raves about it everywhere.
And if the demo turns me off, I don't buy it.

Geeze, those guys at Papy doesn't owe you a chicken shit - if they upgrade
an already brilliant piece of software - so what - if you think it's a rip
off - don't buy it then....

I sure will - they don't owe me anything - I've got my every cents from any
release from them...

I just don't get it....

I think the demo is not really meant for *** racers. Thats more to
attract new customers. Most people don't pick apart games or simulations the
way they are here. We are a very small group compared to what is sold all
over the world.

I don't know why you think it should be a free patch, I see many sports
games, almost all actually that are basically the same game with updated
roster and a few changes selling for full price. I never here people
complaining about that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.............. you tell us that!! I've been buying Papy NASCAR
sims since day 1 and to this date have yet to be disappointed. The only
disappointment I've had is when TEN was done away with. You might want to read
more, because there is more to NC2002 then just an update. you guys who dislike
NASCAR racing so bad should start writing a new racing sim program then we can
pick your stuff to death.

Nascar 2002 Demo

by John Simmon » Mon, 04 Feb 2002 21:50:06

You think the whining is bad now, just wait till someone posts the
readme.txt file from the new version.

Many of you (and I'm not including wilbur in this rant) talk a good game
about refusing to buy NR2k2 because of the perceived lack of features,
but you're just a bunch of whiners looking for attention. You'll be
there right behind us "early adopters" because you wanna race with the
big boys (and the big boys will be buying this new version - believe
it).

Complaining about an early demo is one of the most insanely stupid
things you could possibly do.  IT'S JUST A DEMO.  Even more important,
the lead time to produce a demo is so significant that the code used for
said demo is probaby many generations old when compared to what we'll
finally get in the retail copy.  So complaining about stuff that may or
may not even be in the final version is beyond moronic.

There's only a week and a half before the game hits the shelves, so
let's just sit back and wait to see what happens.

(If it were me, I'd learn to get REAL cozy with Direct3D).
