Is anybody playing this game, if so how is it and how does it compare to
Nascar3?  Trying to make up my mind which to buy.

Same physics engine so it feels the same except that a 1970 Superbird is a
pig.
Both are fun, pick your decade.

Ever drive a real Hemi Superbird?  Didn't think so.

Same game, same engine, same sounds, same options, different intro and
different cars and tracks.

If you have N3, you have NL just with different cars and tracks.

It should have been an expansion pack for $20.

The thing that bugged me about Nascar Legends was this... When Nascar2
came along, the folks at Papyrus removed the tire stagger setting from
the setup menu, claiming that NASCAR no longer allowed setting of
stagger. That's all well and fine, but back in the Nascar Legends era,
tire stagger was indeed a valid setup option. I fully expected to see
the setting return for Legends, but it didn't. Legends is pretty
obviously N3 with graphic changes.

Still, I bought it, and I will buy everything Papy puts out, just in
the hopes that I'm helping support the company that might release
another GPL-quality title down the road. Perhaps I'm being naiive
here, but I can afford to buy their other titles while I wait for the
next GPL-quality sim from them.

Change your rear tire pressures for stagger. I believe that's how it was done
back in 1970.

We have a winner!  Just because you don't see a stagger adjustment that
doesn't mean it isn't there.<G>

Rubbish, Rubbish, Rubbish. Oh, and did I say Rubbish. NL is much better and
more fun than N3. Have you tried it????

No offense Trips, as I've actually been equally naive. But that is
backwards thinking now that I reconsider it. I believe purchasing the
crappy products does more harm than good.

If I had the self discipline to deprive myself of the eye candy I
would have skipped both N3 and Legends, and buying NR99 was another
waste. I didn't even send in for the rebate because of a similar "they
need the money" mindset.

The problem is that the parent company doesn't view our purchase of
the lesser products as a sign of loyalty, they view it as a sign of
our appetite for crappy products and the lack of appetite for quality
products.

If we really want to show Sierra that we want a GPL quality title, we
should go out and buy another copy of GPL. In fact, since Sierra
probably wouldn't be aware of any merchandise moving off the shelf of
a local software store, we should all make a point to order GPL
directly from Sierra.

Just 1,000 or so direct orders would send a real positive message to
the "suits", but if we all make a point to purchase products we don't
care for, all we are doing is telling them we want more of these types
of products.

They also measured tires at certain pressures to determine the
circumference.

Holy Cow!  I didn't think of that!

Yet another indication that it's N3 with different skins :(

Nope.  That's how it's done _now_, though they don't really call it stagger
any more.

Back then, they actually had different size tires.

Right?

If I hadn't of tried it, I wouldn't have posted the damned message now,
would I?

If you differ, please say how.  Otherwise, your post doesn't help one bit.

No, my post didn't help much. But hey, yours was stating the blindingly
obvious, so what makes that so earth shattering?

My view that NL is better than N3, is chiefly that a) the AI have more
balls, and, b) the tyre wear/fuel consumption part of the equation more
accurately reflects the way real cars behave/behaved then. There are
problems, but none that a couple of clever people (not me), could sort out.
It may be the same game engine, but the parameters have been shifted. This
is all of course IMHO.
