Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

by l.. » Sat, 21 Feb 2004 11:17:56

I know about draft sharing with the cars in front of you. This is done
by pressing the R2 button I believe. The manual indicates that you can
share a draft with the car behind you (or I read this incorrectly). If
I can share a draft with a car behind, what button do I press to
accomplish this? Is this just implied and the only way to share a
draft is to just stay in front of the rear car?

Thanks for any info.

I think so.
It appears to me that the "share draft" is really meant to be a "Don't let
me rear end this dude REALLY hard"
button.

However when your draft meter fills up while someone is behind you, you are
letting them draft.

Are you kidding? Sounds like a James Bond car! :)

    JB - "What's this button do Q?"
    Q - "Don't touch that you idiot!"

Whatever you do, don't touch the "e" key (eject), especially if you're in
the model without the sunroof.

It's called Nitrous Oxide Larry :)  DEI's problem arises on the non
restrictor tracks though because Traction Control technology hasn't quite
caught up to good ole N2O <vbseg>

Nitrous Oxide.  Why does that seem synonymous with Rhino Newman.

But seriously, do you really need to press a button to draft?  Or is
that only in the Ps2 version?  I thought drafting was all about race
craft.

I'd hope so.  That would be a horrible feature and then I would get to laugh
even more at those who think Thunder 2004 is a great "SIM".

It is EA, though...Home of the games where you can run a lap 2 seconds and
10 MPH quicker than anyone has all day and they still catch up to you two
laps later...

No, it doesn't affect the draft itself. You can still do this without
pressing R2. Draft sharing is for the Grudges and Alliance sytem that
EA has in Thunder 2004. I have raced without it before and done quite
well. The only thing I had a question about is whether you can "share
a draft" with the car behind you as the manual seems to indicate but
does not specifically say how to accomplish within the Grudges and
Alliance Sytem.

Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

As an addendum to my last post, I am not a particular fan of EA
version on Nascar. It has an incredibly long way to go before it even
approaches Papy racing. I am just to cheap to buy a good computer to
run Papy, so I have opted for the cheesier racing games for the
console. Besides, EA has the right to Nascar so I figure I had better
get used to it because that is all there is gonna be for a while.

The only game I have that even makes a dent in Papy is
Atari/Infogrames Nascar: Dirt to Daytona and even this would need a
radical overhaul to be as good as Papy.
