Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

So in summary you dont have enough PC ponies to run NR2003 (Which Thunder
requires more of everything) yet you, the all knowing one can assure all the
rest of  us that have actually tried it and tried it the way it was meant to
run that its far from the quality of any Papy release???.  Get real.  Am I
saying it's better than NR2003?  No, but it's a dam fine sim that has
potential.  It just kills me when guys that havent even tried, or worse
tried the PS2 version have an opinion on the PC version.

So why don't you just put us all straight, instead of working so ***
the come backs.  Does the PC version also include a button that you have
to press in order to draft?  Simple question, I hope.  :)

Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

Im not coming here pretenting I know anything about the console version.
The last console I owned was a Genisis.  All Ive run is the demo and that Im
aware of it doesnt have a "nitrous button".  If it did I wouldnt be here
saying how great of a sim it was would I?

Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

I think for most people it is a shock that somebody even slightly defends
Thunder as being a sim, so don't take people too seriously when they joke
around about it.  I personally think EA has the potential (and $$$) to make
a great sim (F1C is great), but I don't think they will do it because more
$$$ are related to arcade style games rather than sims.  What I would like
to see happen is EA hiring Papyrus to make a sim or to even release future
versions of Nascar Racing Season.  At the same time EA could continue to
release Thunder for all the little kiddies to play.  My nephews love it, but
they are 10 and 7.  Opinions are opinions and more power to ya if you like
Thunder!  Play it until the end of time, but unless it improves it is my
humble opinion that most dedicated sim racers probably won't join ya.

Have a nice day!

Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

by Mitch_ » Mon, 23 Feb 2004 04:26:27

Lumping ME with arcade kiddies if funny in it's own right.  Ive been doing
this since the BEGINNING of PC simming and am as dedicated as ANYONE.  I
only care about the most realistic sim as possible period which is why Im so
bored too death with NR2003.  NR2003 cars feel like tuna boats on an ice
rink.  If anyone else could get the online code up to Papy standards we
might actually move forward instead of standing still with the same ***
they been throwin at us since N4.

Ive said it before and Ill say it agian one last time.  Is thunder04 better
than NR2003?  No, not at this point.  Is it a step in the right direction?
IMO definitely.  In fact aspects of Thunder04 are much better than NR2003.
Overall NR2003 is still champ, Ive never argued that, what I have argued is
that NR2003 will be the champ by this time next year?  It sure won't be on
my hard drive and hopefully I have something in the racing genre to replace
it with or its back to LOMAC.  If we as a community don't support FUTURE
sims were just shooting ourselves in the foot.  You do undertand that simple
concept dontchya?

Have you even tried the Thunder Demo?  I find it odd that you like F1C as it
feels remarkably similar to Thunder.  (Yes I go deeper than the pretty
graphics)

I really don't understand what you are talking about. I never made any
comment on the PC version of Thunder 04. I was only comparing the
Console version against Papyrus Nacar Racing Series. I have no clue as
to the PC version of Thunder since like I said I am not willing to
spend  $1500 on a $50 dollar game no matter who makes it.

Maybe you should read the posts better before jumping to conclusions.

Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

I actually bought Thunder 2004 because of all the hype and I was deeply
disappointed.  I guess I did lump you in there, my apologies, that wasn't my
intention and you can quote me when I said "opinions are opinions, etc."  I
don't think F1C feels similar to Thunder and I own them both.  You don't
have to ask me if I support that concept either.  Of course I want to see
bigger and better sims created.  If EA came out with a sim that was better
than NR2003 I would play the h*ll out of it, but right now, to quote you,
"Overall NR2003 is still champ..".  And I agree with Peter, "So why don't
you just put us all straight, instead of working so ***
the come backs?"

Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

by l.. » Mon, 23 Feb 2004 04:51:21

When I started this thread it was just a simple question about Thunder
04 for PS2. I never intended to start a "which sim is better" debate.
I have raced Papy since the first one came out untill the last
versions came out. The game outgrew my system after N4. I have since
that time been using the PS2 Versions from EA and  Infogrames.

I have found things I like about all of them and thing I don't like.
It is really up the the individual which one he likes at any
particular moment in time.

Anyway, my original question still has not been answered. Any
intelligent person would have answered the question (even if it was to
say that they don't know) and been done with it. Instead we have some
people who would rather argue about something that has nothing to do
with the original point of the topic.

If you could run N4, as you imply, you can run 03 just fine.

Really?  My frame rates dropped in half from N4 to N2003, until I upgraded
my PC.  N2003 asks a lot more of a system than N4 does.

My exerience.  Your mileage may vary, as, I'm sure, does Lacy's

<shrug>  No change at all here, maybe even slightly better with 03.  On a
lowly P4 1.4

Nascar Thunder 2004 (Ps2) Drafting Question

You're a no nothing dumbass. The PS2 and PC versions of Nascar Thunder 2004
are not even developed by the same people. Look up Tiburion and then ISI.
No! There is no button to press in order to draft in the PC version. The PC
version of Thunder *2004* is almost as much a sim of Nascar racing as the
Papyrus version.
