Most realistic racing game?

Most realistic racing game?

Umm, perhaps most realistic physics and most respectful of F1 racing.  Maybe it
was sunny every single day in 1967 but not where I lived.

Good race realism in TOCA2 with pit stop and tire choice strategy decisions but
you'll soon outrun the AI and some say the FWD simulation is suspect.  Good
fender to fender stuff though.  Also TOCA's Copse at Silverstone in the rain is
a challenge GPL won't give you!

You're right.  It's fun and pretty but better if you haven't earned a
real-world drivers license. ;-)

I've owned every auto sim to date and nothing has grabbed me like SCGT.  Its
just a blast, especially with a Logitech Formuala Force (FF) wheel.  GPL I
found much to difficult to ever win.

Just like to know what was the most realistic racing game right now on the
market. I prefer either Rally, Touring and F1 type of racing game. I know
right now, alot of people will say GPL was the most realistic racing
simulation but beside this are there any other?

I've D/L the Rally championship 2000 demo and find that this is a very nice
Sim. I do hope that it will be release in time. But before this, i'll like
to know others which is available at this moment.

BTW, do you guys find NFS: HS realistic? I really like the***pit and the
graphic in it but was finding this game to be like an arcade game. Any
comments?

Hope to have some of you guys comments.

Thanks.
Philip.

Toca2 is not that great.  Infact the orginal SCGT demo with no physics hack
felt better then Toca2.  For me SCGT is the best modern racing game.  The
AI does need a bit of work and GPL AI beat SCGTs hands down, but for a game
that has a good feel of a slick tired racing car SCGT is great.  Toca2 is
too oversteery for me.

Same advice than Jan .......GPL all other "sims" are just games

Rally Championship will be released next Friday (19th). I think you'll find
that to be the most realistic and complete sim ever made.

From most of the reviews and reports I have read (not to mention my own
opinion <g>),  the majority opinion seemed to be that GPL had the most
realistic driving model, with Viper Racing a distant second, and the other
sims not on the same lap.

In terms of recreation of the entire racing environment, perhaps SCGT would
take the prize, theough there has been a lot of criticism of its physics
model.

My personal experience is that all the sims I've tried except GPL and VR now
feel rather "dead" to me, like driving by remote control.

GPL is a great game, and well if I ever drove a BT24 with the Repco and old
tires then it might be right.  The game play is great and online is great.
If you want online racing then go that way.

Viper racing well I do not own it.  I tried Demo and got a bit bored since
it was only one car.

Well I am not sure why they have a gripe there.  It reacts very similar to
my Solo ll car which runs slicks,  I really just wish the AI was better.
The grip may be a bit on the high side since the cars do run laps faster
then real ones.  I do however enjoy it the most, it may be also due to I do
not have the time to commit to be fast again in GPL.  It takes a while to
get good and also aa bit of driving every week to maintain it.  Well with 3
kids, a wife and a race car to feed I just do not have the time to commit
to it anymore.

Have fun,

Dave

How do you guys think about Nascar? I've recently seen 1 Nascar 3 also from
Papyrus and Nascar Legends. Also seen 1 Nascar Revolution SE or something
like that from EA. So you guys have any comments on it? I don't really like
Nascar series of racing game but do you guys think it's good?

Nascar 3 and Legends are very good, no question the most realistic Nascar
sims to date.
Nascar Revolution by EA is way to arcadish for me.

If it's too oversteery for you, then you havn't set the car up...I found
that to begin with, but you have to a)Use an FF wheel, you'll find you
get what I think is better feedback than GPL...My opinion - no flaming
please.  b)Set the car up (spring rates higher at the front)

Oh - one hint for any TOCA 2 driver...to be quick, you must have ALL the
downforce turned off...just a stupid feature of the game !!

However - stupidities apart (GPL has it's fair share) I believe TOCA 2
is WELL worth a spin at the moment - it looks good, the tracks are nice
(apart from the run from Paddock Hill bend to Druids at Brands Hatch)

I've given up playing GPL...REPEAT "PLAYING". because it's not really
fun any more. However, I'll happily leg it around Brands Hatch in the
Honda, trying to find my way around paddock hill bend without hitting
that ***Y GREAT BUMP IN THE ROAD that is prone to throwing you into
the wall.

I prefer TOCA 2 - not because it's easier to win--it's just more FUN.
That, surely, is the point!?!

I tried the TOCA 2 demo.  I was _HIGHLY_ disappointed with the feel of the car
and amount of enjoyment I got from playing it.  The physics model does not
model understeer at all.  The rear tires just suddenly lose all traction like
you hit ice if you try to go too fast, no matter what you do with the car
setup.  It's just not too enjoyable of a game for me.
