Well, I haven't tried any of these under W98 as I've now installed WinXP
on the 3 PC's I'm running with V5's
One is running with the X3dfX drivers, one is running with the drivers
that came with XP and one is running with drivers from another place
that I don't have the link to at the moment, performance wise the driver
that came with XP is lagging a bit behind and don't come with the "3Dfx
tools" of course
I have not installed F1-2001 on either PC, and I've never installed any
of these on top of other drivers either, save for those that came with
XP, but as a rule I always uninstall older drivers before installing new
drivers unless told otherwise by the readme
I agree, there are too many drivers, as much as I appreciate the effort
of the community to keep our cards running for as long as possible, a
joint effort might have been better for those of us that don't have time
to fiddle around with our PC's all the time, currently I have some 80 MB
of various drivers for the V5 on the server here, bit too much :-)
If I was doing it over again, I'd give the X3Dfx drivers a go, to the
best of my knowledge these are at least partly created by people who
used to work for 3Dfx....
Beers and cheers
