My version of DX8.1 keeps telling me it's expired. I can only find DX8.0a on
the MS web site. Anyone know where I can get an updated version of DX8.1. If
I try installing DX8.0a over the top I still get the same error messages.

yep, got the same shit last week, remove the dx files and then run a fresh
8.0a

Hmmmm?

Why would I want to have DX 8.1 beta on my system?  What does it benefit?

Well Tom, on my system I got problems with flickering images with GP3 using
DX8.0. I load the beta of DX8.1 and lo, the problem disappears!
