No kidding - within an hour or so on www.f1gamers.com, somebody started an
"Uninstalling DX 8.1?" thread. LOL.
On a different note, I just installed Windows XP. How do I get Windows 3.1
back? ;-)

For users of Kyro II chips:
Using Win2000SP2, PowerVR driver 9.031, and DX 8.1 my pc would reset itself
when I tried testing D3D in the DirectX Control Panel. Going back to
Hercules driver v. 9.015 fixed it!
I haven't testet MadOnion's nVidiaMark2000 and nVidiaMark2001.

8.1 is already in XP I believe so I don't see why there should be any
problems. I know I don't have any under XP.

Well I guess it's blasphemy to talk about NFS PU here, but it increased my
framrate about 40% on my W2k Radeon.

I don't think you can call my systems graphics performance amazing. The
"worst case" framarate was down to 16 before and is 22 now. That is when I
have all the other 7 cars just in front of me or visible in the mirror (and
it's raining). I was down to 10 fps before I installed the latest Radeon
driver, and THAT is a problem!
But I think you can call the improvement from DX 8.0a amazing.
