RASCAR: Bristol Race

Well, the grubbat dodge was dialed in but a glitch at the beginning kept
the car from starting the race untill one lap down. After getting on the
track, yellow came out and somehow got a bf for passing 11 whom I never saw.
I called it a bogus BF but Jan corrected me by saying there is no such thing
as a bogus bf in RASCAR. Started out 4 laps down when it was all said and
done and managed to keep it that way for most of the race. Number 3 car
wouldn't give me nuthin on the restart and I almost got 1 lap back but
couldn't hold off his fast car. I dont blame him now cause this is racing.
If I couldn't stay in front of him, I didn't need to be there. Simple as
that. Good race #3.
We simply had some long green flag runs here and I was surprised.

One thing about bristol: If you are a lap down and have to pit, you dont
have enough time to get your car serviced and repaired to get back out on
the track before the green flag waves. Never encountered this before now and
it really sucks.

See yall next week.

Apparently, it's been fixed in the patch, but as I wrote earlier, all the
admin has to do is type "!yellow" on the lap before the re-start to add one
more yellow lap and that gives you plenty of time...

On the first yellow there was a problem with the pacecar picking up the
leader incorrectly or vise versa. So if you pitted on that yellow or didn't
find your correct position before the green came out, you would have gotten
a BF for that. Larry, Bryan and myself only narrowly avoided it (you can't
stop or reverse on track to get into position).

But I thought you said it happened in the pits? -As posted in reply to
Bluestringer above, I'm under the impression there's a bug with regard to
the bit of tarmac between the backstretch and frontstretch pit at T3-T4,
which I think is not totally regarded as pitroad. I think that if you happen
to get ahead of other cars (or maybe it's just the pacecar) on track before
you enter the front stretch pit you're deemed to have passed under yellow.

On the other hand, you were able to pass me there no problem so in that
respect it does act like pitroad, which is strange, to say the least.

Yeah, it was ok on that front. Too bad about the pacing mix-up right at the
beginning.

Yeah, on the short tracks, the non-lead lap cars really have to boogey to be
ready for a restart. That's why it's important to catch the pacecar
correctly and close up behind it ASAP (and that doesn't mean touring around
at 6000rpm in 2nd, as I experienced today), so people can pit on their
proper lap and don't wast too much time getting in.

On that first caution why couldn't you guys drive around the track and pass
the cars that you were already scored ahead of?

Here's what happened, the caution came out and Robert Huggins took it, but
for some reasone slowed nearly to a stop on the apron down the fron stretch.
Larry, in P2, went by him as he still had momentum, with Bryan Oster and
myself following suit. Seeing as the leader was not behind the pacecar, we
continued past it. As Robert catches up with it he has to stay behind it,
leaving the 3 of us*** out to dry. I hadn't even noticed I'd gone
around the leader eventhough he'd been in my view (but on the apron) for a
while. I even hesitated to go around this car (I didn't recognise it as beig
the leader when the caution came out... I still assumed it to be ahead of
me) as I had taken the caution, but the spotter only started whining about
the #3 well after I'd followed Brian around the pacecar.

It would have been a lot easier if Robert had just kept going. Even if,
after blowing past it, he was ordered to stay behind the pacecar, he would
have been ahead of us to stop us going around another lap at speed and
getting out of sync with the field. I have to ask: what was the deal with
slowing a crawl off track on taking the yellow, Robert? -It sure as hell had
nothing to with avoidance of the incident which triggered the yellow. How
could you possibly have assumed we'd notice you slowing for the caution when
you didn't do it on track? -Not responding to our chat messages wasn't
exactly helpfull either.

Anyway, here's the reason why this shit happens: we have no human sitting on
top of the crash cart telling us what to do. We rely on the game for
information and it never once protested about passing #3 or the pacecar
before it was *WAY* too late to do anything about it.

This incident ruined an otherwise relatively good race. 9 yellows is not
exactly excessive for a Bristol race.

Chatting isn't allowed, remember?

There's a difference between "chatting" and relaying vital information to
fellow competitors. Unless Robert was trying to make a point, of course.

For Pete's Sake.  As John has already said, racing related (important)
information is allowable.
I will grant that I am in a pissy mood myself today but really, what are we
a bunch of high school kids.
Get off the semantecs and live with the intention of the rules.

My apologies to Brian Farmer. Had some good clean racing with you for awhile. I
lost it out of 4? and completly screwed the pooch by not being able to keep my
car off the track and came right up in front of Brian killing both of our
motors. Sorry Brian...

the yellow, Robert?

Lap 13, turn 3, the 83 car warps taking out the 99 car to bring out the
caution.  This happened right in front of me.  I was on the brakes not
knowing how hard the 99 car was going to bounce off the outside wall.  Then
I was on the gas to pass the 99 car.  Then I remember recently passing the
42 car putting him a lap down.  I went low to allow him to pass safely and
get his lap back before I took the yellow flag.  The 92, 98, and 27 cars
also passed me; but they passed me after I had crossed the s/f line to take
the yellow.  I stayed behind the pace car since that is what my spotter was
telling me to do.

We are not allowed to chat during the race.  Right?  Autochat only.  Right?
