There's fairly little opportunity to let anyone have their lap back at
Bristol, but fair enough. It's our fault for assuming you'd be up the road.
I would have appreciated you indicating you were stuck behind the pacecar
though.

You didn't honestly believe anyone would take a blind bit of notice in a
situation like that? -Anyway, here's another rule...

"Once you cross the start/finish line, DO NOT slam on the brakes or make
sudden movements or lane changes. Just lift and lightly brake if needed."

Let's call it even, shall we?

Which one of the RASCAR drivers is Sean McWhom ?

Guys, I'm just trying to follow the rules here and not get a penalty.

Why do so many RASCAR participants think everyone is out to get them?

I read the rules.  I exchanged messages with John in the RASCAR forum about
some of them.

John even pointed out that I violated a rule at Michigan by driving over 65
mph on 3 of the 4 restarts when I was the leader.

I was trying real hard to follow the RASCAR rules and not get a penalty.

I did not intentionally do anything that would hurt any of my RASCAR
friends.  I was trying to help the 42 car by giving him his lap back.

Please accept my apologies for anything that I did wrong.

Please tell me what I did wrong and I will try to do better next time.

Robert, I'm pretty confident it's just a matter of everyone getting used to you.

Last year, I wrecked everyone trying to give a lap back, and if it hadn't been
for Brian speaking up, I'm sure it would have been much worse for me.

Don't fret over it.

Thanks for that Robert. I saw you on the apron, and I knew you was waiting
for me to go by. I wasn't up front, so I don't know what the deal was with
the pace car.

I don't want to start a back and forth situation here.  I admit there were
several people confused and they all think I did something wrong so
apparently I goofed.  I'm sorry about that.

Please tell me what I was supposed to do, within the rules, that could have
made the race better.

I do not understand your phrase "You didn't honestly believe anyone would
take a blind bit of notice in a situation like that?"

Are you saying that it would have been OK to violate the "no chat" rule
because several racers were confused?

What one line chat could I have typed while driving that could have cleared
everything up?

"WHEN YOU COME TO THE YELLOW FLAG, STAY BEHIND THE PACE CAR" ???

I was told the rule was "no chat" and I followed that rule.  Please re-state
that rule differently and get it published on the RASCAR rules page if I was
supposed to do anything different.

I guess you are trying to point out that I violated another rule by typing:

Well, as stated before, I had to slow for the wreck.  I stayed low BEFORE
the s/f line.  I maintained the low and slow position I was in because of
the wreck avoidance.  I DID NOT slam on brakes or make sudden movements
after I crossed the start/finish line.

OK, guys, let's stop this back and forth.

I admit there was confusion during that first caution.

I admit some of that confusion resulted from me going low to allow the 42
car to get his lap back.

Please give me whatever punishment the RASCAR rules say I deserve and let's
be fair about this.

I am sorry if I messed anyone up.  I did not intentionally do anything to
cause the caution or the confusion during the caution.  I just reacted to
the events of the race as they happened to the best of my ability.

Some of you guys seem to think it was all a plot to ruin your race.

I'm sorry for the mistakes I made during the Bristol race!

I am the #12 car, McWhom is my psuedonym on usenet.

It seemed to me that you had not responded to the chats on purpose and then
posted to make a point of following the rules to the letter by not
responding where it would seem a response was needed.
I read in foul intent, I apologize to you if I was mistaken.

RASCAR: Bristol Race

Neither do I, I was perhaps a bit too confrontational because I was miffed
about getting hung out to dry like that and looking stupid.

I wouldn't say you did anything wrong, but rather acted in an unexpected
way. I've never seen anyone give a lap back at Bristol unless they were
still side by side, because of the difficulty and dangers involved in really
slowing to let someone through. Indeed, if you'd done it the normal way, I
think the 3 of us would have piled into you (the racing line had cleared
when we got to the incident).

You're not supposed to do anything. Now that I know what actually happened,
I know where I went wrong (that's the trouble with racing, you can't sit
back and think things through before acting) and can try to avoid that in
future. I simply didn't realise the car on the apron was not involved in the
incident and had taken the yellow normally. I also didn't recognise it as
being that of the race leader.

At the time I had expected you to continue, at speed until at least T1,
perhaps waiting for the pacecar near the end of the back straight.
Basically, as the race leader, I think you should plant your car on the
racing line so nobody gets any ideas about getting ahead of you. Being on
the apron gives the impression you were involved in the incident and
therefore the game might allow one to pass you.

I'm saying most of us know John is less draconian as he sounds. He's been
saying "no chat" for almost two years now.

Besides, from my point of view it's not a bad thing to start a the back in
the next race if it prevents me from getting my ass black flagged in this
one.

"stuck behind pacecar"

Yes, but there's the trouble, you see, everyone passing s/f behind you gets
a "we're under caution" message, regardless of whether you, the leader, have
taken the caution or not. The only way we know we're really under caution is
to see you slowing to get behind the pacecar and, until last race, that did
not include you sitting on the apron of T1 waiting for the pacecar to leave
the pits.

The rule remains intact and now that John has the power to enforce it, it
might get broken less often. <g>

And I'll have to drive with that <bleep>ing annoying, flashing, distracting,
multi-coloured F2 screen open to prevent me from getting caught out like
that again. No, on second thoughts, I'll take the black flag from the game.

No, you took the yellow flag in an unpredictable manner, which I think is
the spirit of that rule, but, like I said, that was too confrontational of
me.

What penalty can we give you? -You're already at the back of the next one
for winning the race. Just to show we appreciate your talent, you
understand... <vwg>

The only thing that happened to us was we couldn't pit under that yellow. I
figured it out just in time and wanted to chat "Larry: STOP!!", but I
couldn't get the message typed. Luckily, Larry figured it out for himself.

I admit I entertained the notion it was a deliberate action on your part to
either get your nearest competitors black flagged, or, at the very least,
make a point about the no chat rule by leaving us***, yes.

I forgive you.

Jan.

Robert, sorry about this, I thought you were holding things up.   :o(  You
were showing up in 4th (5th?) on my F2 screen &, seeing some of the other
chat, misunderstood the situation.  Also didn't realise who LNB3 (?) was at
