Christer, apparently you're still pissed because I said you and your buddies
need 50,000 laps of practice to get a fast lap time? Or maybe you're annoyed
because I also said your belief you could drive a real race car
fast, based on your sim experience, are pure fantasy?

Dave
DmndDave (I drive fast in sims and also a fast car in real life.
Unfortunately, it doesn't mean sh*t unless I have a really deep, desperate,
need to believe I'm Schumacher, and have others believe I am too. Like
Christer)   :-)

Hi Christer - long time no hear. How's GPL going? Winning online in F1RS is
much easier with you on another sim ;-)

Regarding your post, it's always amazed me how many people see mto think
race cars are a different branch of physics to road cars. Time spent argiung
the point on usenet would be better spent at a racing school to try it out.
I loved it - but found it not so different from normal cars except
everything was more responsive, more precise and happened much, much faster.

I love the physics model in the GPL demo but just can't get into this
nostalgia thing - wish I could in some ways. I pray that papy come through
with a real CART simulator in 99. Unlike most, I was dissapointed with ICR2.
It was fun and the AI were ok but the physics wasn't even close. GP2 was a
little better but other than GPL, F1RS has been the only sim that mimics
real life even appraximately satisfyingly for me. In fairness though, I
haven't tried any of the Nascar stuff - not my thing although I envy them
their 22 car races on TEN :-(

See you again soon - Regards

Such flattery can get you anywhere and since I seem to believe I'm Schummi I
sure need it :o))).

I loved it too. I even got to try it in the rain and since I locked up, lost the
rear entering corners, mid corners and exiting corners, four wheel drifting
through high speed corners, getting to wide (those kerbs were no fun in an FFord
:o)), in the rain, I would say I was driving close to the edge :o). I have also
lost the rear in the dry, once doing around 150 kph over a crest :o), where the
instructor warned us not to release the throttle, brake or change gear... I was
going to fast, which he never warned us about :o). I have never spun in an
FFord, which I believe I can thank all my sim racing experiences for. I've been
damn close, though :o). The FFords we drove were probably set up very easy,
though, but getting oversteer in any corner was no problem.

NASCAR doesn't do it to me either... I get dizzy.

I will probably see you online in F1RS2 :o))).

/Christer, actually not very fast anymore :o)
