GPL 1.1 or 2.0?

GPL 1.1 or 2.0?

I have this weird feeling that GPL v1.1 will become GPL 2.0 complete with a
$49 price tag. Current users will probably receive a $10 to $20 rebate(just
wishful thinking).

No way it takes 8 months to tweak and correct the few bugs that exist in the
sim. Face it guys and gals this aint gone be no "patch", this will be a
updated version of the sim. Do you really think that Papy would add FF and
such for free?

I hope that I'm wrong(sure as hell want be the first time and certainly want
be the last).

GPL is without a doubt the best sim ever created and if Papy makes it even
better it would definitely be worth another 25 to 50 bucks. Whether  its a
"patch" or a new version I just wish they'd get the sucker out the door.

Kind of like when it took them 8 months to patch the really
annoying setup bug (and not much else) in ICR2?  While they were
creating NASCAR2?  Case closed...  :)

Maybe after N3 and whatever is after that (Cart2000 maybe?).  Then we might see
a GPL2.

Not unless it has a lot more than we've heard about - say new tracks
or something. Not that it isn't an impressive sounding patch, it is,
but they can't expect people to shell out again for multiplayer fixes
and FF.

I would...and NT / Linux support, and warm tires at the start, and the
ability to kick off unbehaving online racers, and no offline suicidal "a la
Surtees at Monza" behavior of the AI's.

Nonetheless, in its present form, the greatest sim ever made.

Interesting remark... Isn't he saying that sim racing will never exist
as a sport :o)? I agree there is no fear of loosing your life, but
there's the fear of making a fool of yourself and fear of loosing the
rear. Is that enough fear to make it a sport :o)?

I dunno, don't think so.  There are plenty of people on the NROS and VROC
that make fools of themselves.....and making a fool of themselves doesn't
stop them dead cold like buying the farm in a flame wreckage of a racecar.

Oh... Is this a known persisting feature? Surtees has hit two times the back
of my car when braking for the Parabolica, is this happening to the others
too?

Yepp, after the announcement of FF for the patch I'm waiting for Randy to
announce a Linux server, too. Call me VERY optimistic. ;^)

GPL 1.1 or 2.0?

I'm completely puzzled about the constant talk about 1.1. Just what earth-shattering
changes are going to take place?

FFB would be nice.
D3D support would be great.
A few more choices for newbies would be nice.
Improved net code would be nice (but of debatable use given the state of the Net these
days).

But nothing's going to fundamentally change what's already a great racing experience. I
think what I'm saying is that if people aren't enjoying themselves already, nothing in the
patch is likely to help... and if people are enjoying it already, what's to complain about?

More choices for newbies (and pros)? Take a look at GPaL!

More choices *and* new ways to enjoy the "what's already a great racing
