I don't have the source code, so I can't check. ;^)
But the possibility is there, that the server could do all the AI
calculations while the client has only to do your car, the graphics
and the positional updates.
Only if the AI calculations are more cpu intensive than the server
updates, it would be worthwhile, of course.
I compare it with Quake2, there is a definite gain when running a
dedicated server with 5 or 6 bots. The path finding for those ***s
is now done by the server and not the client -> much better frame rate.
