GPL 1.1 or 2.0?

Thats been stated already.

Granted, but there is the OpenGL....

Um, what?  Its the best there is right now for something as accurate as GPL.
About the only thing I can think of that they truly might want to correct is
how they handle multiplayer collisions to help avoid some of the weirdness
that happens. :)

already, nothing in the
to complain about?

True enough.

What would the benefits of a Linux server be? Is GPL 1.1 going to a
true client/server model? Will this improve lag for racers?

I should've pointed out I don't want/need/lust after any of the options I mentioned.

Would it be at least possible? Dependency on Windoze should be
minimal after removing sound, graphics and controller code.

I don't have the source code, so I can't check. ;^)

But the possibility is there, that the server could do all the AI
calculations while the client has only to do your car, the graphics
and the positional updates.
Only if the AI calculations are more cpu intensive than the server
updates, it would be worthwhile, of course.

I compare it with Quake2, there is a definite gain when running a
dedicated server with 5 or 6 bots. The path finding for those ***s
is now done by the server and not the client -> much better frame rate.

Uh, folks..unless Randy corrects me, I do believe that GPL IS a
client/server app.  In fact, I'd be that each AI racer acts as a client on
your computer and so do you. :?

Can't imagine trying to write a game that was written groundup to be
multiplayer of the complexity of GPL in any other manner.

I'm wondering how long it takes you guys to realise that there will
be no answer to this question. If they give a date and be a day late
they'll be the worst thing since.................

Unless Papyrus has an agreement with NASCAR not to release another
stand alone server like NROS.....

Tense or nervous.
If computer games scare you, make a trip to the US and take a NYC taxi
ride. Nothing will ever scare you again.

Tim, the cabbies of NYC  have nothing on the cab drivers in Rome. These cats
all think they should be in the second Ferrari<g>.
