It may be as simple as updating to the latest motherboard chipset drivers
for your new motherboard. I swapped a PIII 700 and mobo out for an AMD 1.2
Ghz on Abit Kt7ARAID and after hooking everything up, Windows went through
and installed all the mobo (system) drivers from Win98SE and I had all sorts
of problems. I went to Viatech (mobo chipset maker) and downloaded their
latest chipset/mobo drivers and installed. The mobo came with some drivers
but were older than was available at their website. Upon unstalling the new
drivers (Via 4n1 for me), everything was back fine and dandy. I think my
main problem was with AGP to CPU bridge drivers, most of my problems were
video related.
