Here is a little matrix of frame rates to expect, hope this helps you
out a bit. This is not the most scientific benchmark, but I have made
every effort to maximize the framerates by disabling un-needed
drivers.
I took these measurements by setting all graphic detail to the highest
and then entering training at Monza. I simply did the Alt-F and did
not touch any of the driving controls, then waitide and watched. The
number reported is the highest integer value observed with no rounding
up, ie, 26.9 is 26.
AMD K6-2/300MHz (3 x 100), Gigabyte GA-5AX MB, 128MB PC100 SDRAM, and
SoundBlaster PCI128 w/Formula T2. BTW, the PCI soundcard gave all of
these readings a boost of about 1-2 fps from previous readings with a
SB16 ISA card.

All that aside, running replays at 1280x1024 with the TNT card yields
some stunningly beautiful scenes and it is plenty fluid for watching
from outside the car.
