Anyone have any thoughts on using an AMD K6-2 300 as a platform for GPL,
F1RS, GP3, and so on? Further, does anyone have any insight into the S3
savage videocard? If this rig lives up to the hype, it would provide P2-400
+ Voodoo2 performance for about $375, including a 100mhz motherboard.

I just put a K6-2 300 together for my Dad's 60th birthday. I was very surprised
at the performance. It is a screamer ...and the price ...you can't beat it.
Overall a very nice machine. Later this year AMD will release the 333 and
350mhz versions (400mhz?) of this chip and we should see even more performance
gain. I've been strictly an Intel man for 6yrs but this chip is opening my eyes
to a more cost effective alternative. I'm getting real sick of Intel screwing
the public with overblown pricing schemes.

I have a K6-2 300Mhz, and a Monster3D II. Works great with F1RS,
I don't have GPL, or GP3.

I have a K62/300, Diamond Monster (original) and Epox motherboard.
The GPL demo flies on it, but until other cars are added, I don't
think it means much.
I don't have F1RS yet. SODA, which is very demanding, runs great even
though I don't have a Rendition card.

I run some other sims and games on it, and so far I'm very pleased
with the performance. Unreal (has 3DNow! support), Jedi Knight, Flying
Corps, and Heavy Gear all run great.
