N2 Patch/NRO

by Scott Walte » Wed, 30 Jul 1997 04:00:00

I reinstalled N2 and patched the patch...just the real McCoy, no others.
In mulitplayer I still find cars in my pit stall while pitting. Anyone
else have this problem.  The mulitplayer at the other end also did the
same.

Also, how does one save screen shots in N2...prints screen doens't seem
to do the trick?

While I'm on a roll, does that non updating clown overseer of NRO (scott
somethingarother) still have a job or does he just choose to ignore the
masses who have been waiting for TEN to get up and running since the
first quarter of 97' as was first posted???  Obviously this date cannot
be met and everyone has been very patient, but an update every 3-4 weeks
in an environment where updates can EASILY be posted daily is
unacceptible.  Once a week would make me happy...just tell me something
to ease the pain!!!

Hey, Old Buddy! I don't have an answer for that<G>

It's the "\" key.

Actually, Sean and other Ten employees have been responding to
questions on Ten's news server. As far as project updates go it's
basically "we're pedaling as fast as we can" type stuff. There's
plenty of other good info over there though. Check it out.

Ten's server = localnews.ten.net
Newsgroup (local only) = ten.games.simulations.nascar

I haven't seen this problem since the V1.03 version. Did you check the
version number when the program comes up to verify that it patched
properly?

Use the backslash '\' key. It creates a SS????.PCX file in the N2 directory.

Ed Martin was the producer for NROS and has since left the company. Dave
Matson has taken over the job and has been very active on the TEN
newsgroups. You might want to point your newsreader to localnews.ten.net
and check out the TEN.games.simulations.nascar newsgroup for more
information. Also, TEN has a website (http://www.ten.net) where they plan
to post updates as things progress.

The bottom line is that things are taking much longer than anticipated,
primarily due to issues on Papyrus side with regard to porting the server
software over to run on TEN's Sun machines. They have done some internal
testing and the system is basically operational, but there is no official
word on when the service will be available to the public.

I've seen it at almost ALL tracks so far.  This is with the 1.3 patch.
Since I run a modem series I deal with the second pit stall problem a
lot.  If your the caller and you need to pit under yellow, your taking a
HUGE risk.  This also ruins the race finish if the caller blows his
engine.  Every time the AI car comes in to pit in that stall you run the
risk of a yellow coming out.  If the host machine has a blown engine you
usually can not get the "Final Race" results.  If the caller blows the
engine you can sometimes get the correct results by having him
disconnect at the end of the race.  Then the host can get the final
results.  Of course the caller didn't.
