Err, sorry but Monaco Grand Prix is ancient compared to GPL. Go out and buy
it! It is the best sim out there, BUT, it is not a 'game'. So don't expect
an easy time. Get to know the period (1967), and the cars, and it is the
most rewarding experience in sim reacing.

I've seen it in my local store fo under 20 pounds.  Is it worth buying, or
is it getting a bit old?  How do the graphics, and physics model compare to
Monaco grand prix?

Thanks,

GPL is the best car simulator I have ever tried. MGP pales in comparison.

Just make sure you have the hardware to support it, like a fast processor,
VooDoo card or Rendition, etc.

Its by far the best.  Its a simulator more than a game.  No easy at first.

I think MGPRS2 (Monaco GP) is a great sim, but GPL is the best racing sim
out. The greastest sim ever made in my opinion.
The graphics in MGPRS2 are a little more flashy (it's a prefrence thing, I
prefer MGPRS2's graphics).
The physics model in GPL is incredable. The physics model in MGPRS2 is
probably the best current F1 sim (although GP2 was probably better).
Also the sounds in GPL are the best in any racing sim, MGPRS2 doesn't even
have as good of sounds as some F1 arcade games.

Not as lurid/flashy, but still very, very good.

Beyond comparison (IMHO).

It's *the best*.

Any support for Riva TNT chipsets though, yet? I avoided it with a bargepole
because it doesn't come with native Direct3d support (or Force Feedback),
and software mode (in the demo) was truly abysmal. (P333, 64meg RAM, TNT)

The TNT OpenGL support is still officially Beta, mainly because the OpenGL
call that maps the images on the rearview mirrors is very slow in nvidia's
ICD.  It still works very well for me at 1024X768 with mirrors updating
every fourth frame.  You might want to look into a Celeron - I'm running a
400 at 450MHz (running the bus at 75MHz), as your 333 might be on the slow
side for GPL.

Do buy.  It is the Peter North of racing simulations.
And it looks as if nothing will even approach it for quite some time.

Worth buying? It'd be a steal for double that price.

I'll tell you another great reason (apart from the physics model and
graphics) to buy Grand Prix Legends: the SOUNDS!!!
You'll find NO other simulator out there that will make your hair
stand up on end and small horns grow on your forehead like GPL does.

Crank up them speakers, plonk yerself down in a Ferrari or a BRM 115
and let her rip! When the revs climb to 7.000 rpm your significant
other will fall out of bed. At 8.000 rpm the neighbors will call the
police. At 9.000 rpm small birds will drop dead from the trees. At
10.000 rpm choirs of angels will start to sing.

MGPRS2 is like Jean Aleasi. Obviously a very talented and gifted driver, but
flawed. He has one victory to his name, in almost 10 years of F1.

GPL, however, is like Michael Schumacher _without_ the Adelaide'94 and Jerez'97
incidents. Need I say more? :)

That's my comparison.
