Difference Btween 3D cards and Rendition cards If Any

This might seem to be a stupid question to some people but I am looking
into buying a Rendition card or 3D card.My question or questions are what
is the difference if any because I went to Best Buy today and seen that
they had 3D cards but when I asked the salesman if they had any Rendition
cards he said no!!!.So is there a difference or is this guy just stupid.I
have also heard for a card to N2 to mork in rendition the card must have a
Vertie chip or something like that is this the difference between 3D cards
and Rendition cards and I have not found a 3D card say it had a Vertie chip
in it,If N2 needs this chip which card or cards have it.Finally my last
question what 3D cards or Rendition cards does N2 support, and what is a
good card to get I have heard good things and bad things about the
Intergraph Reactor,Creative Labs new card and the Screaming 3D card.So what
is a good card for this game because I am going to upgrade my P100 to 166
and from 16 meg ram to 32 meg Edo ram in time and I want to upgrade my card
aswell while I'm at it,as for now I have a Trition 1 meg PCI card and a
Trition P100 and 16meg of ram and I run the game with all grahics on and I
have the min Frame rate set at 30 and the max set at 30 like I did for N1
and the game runs perfect no chopiness or lagging or nothing runs perfect
with all cars running at all tracks I must be lucky. Thanks for the help in
advance

Difference Btween 3D cards and Rendition cards If Any

Robert:

I have a Screamin 3D (Rendition) video card.  There are 3 available
Rendition cards presently, as you stated.  These are all basically the
same.  They add some special visual effects not found on N2 regular
version.  N2 only supports Rendition-based video cards, so if you want
to accelerate Nascar2, you only have these 3 cards to choose, as
Sierra/Papyrus states little intention of porting the game to use other
3D cards.  It sounds like the game runs well on your machine already, so
the difference may only be the addition of the special effects.  I have
a P100 and the difference is worth the price of the video card, if you
can afford it.

Which card to get?  Get the Intergraph Reactor card.  It may still be on
sale for $149 when ordering direct from Intergraph and their tech
support is supposed to be much better than Sierra's.  My experience w/
Sierra Tech also leads me to suggest Intergraph.  Good Luck!
