difference.
As far as I know, the Rendition cards are 3d only, that is, they will run
alongside your EXISTING 2D card. They do not modify any 2d games, and they
will not make your 2d card go faster. They work only on applications and
games that run them. A mystique, is a combination 2d/3d card, meaning it
has some 3d features, along with the fast 2d already included in the card.
The monster3d, is like the rendition, a card that runs ALONGSIDE the
existing 2d card. However, the Monster3d, along with the Righteous 3d, and
the other 3dfx cards, do not run RENDITION games. They run 3dfx games. The
advantage to this is that there are MANY games, present and future(it was
said that at the Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3] that almost every game
had a 3dfx card running on it), use the 3dfx chip. If you want to run
Nascar2 with the best graphics possible, you get a Rendition card. If you
want to run GLquake or all of the other games that support 3dfx only, get a
Monster or an Righteous. You don't get improvements if you add a Monster3d
to your system, and as far as I know, if you add a 3d only Rendition, you
get no additional speed in 2d. You get the ability to run Accelerated
versions of games.
I'm probably wrong about the rendition part of this, someone wanna clear it
up?
