No Racing Groove and FF in GPL

by Mart » Mon, 23 Aug 1999 04:00:00

Please Help. Just bought GPL (boy is it frustrating trying to complete
laps!), downloaded latest patch, running PIII 500MHz, TNT2 video. Racing
Groove is greyed out in the options menu. Can't find any way to switch it
on - how do I do that? Also, using MS SWFF wheel, yet can't feel FF. How do
I switch that on?
Thanks,

First, go to http://www.papy.com/gpl/download.html and download the 1.1
patch (for FF) and the OpenGL beta patch (for your TNT2 card - GPL only
supports 3dfx and Rendition, so you currently run it in software mode - no
racing groove and slow).
When you have installed 1.1, there is a file called 'core.ini.sample' in
your gpl folder. Rename it to 'core.ini' and open it in an editor.
Change the line
[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 0                 ; Use FF if device has it
to
[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1                 ; Use FF if device has it
Then you should get FF.
Since I have a Vodoo 3 3000 card, I can't tell you how exactly the OpenGL
patch works, but there are surely some TNT users in this NG, who can help
you with that.
